55 Tasting Notes
Loose black tea. Kind of taste like their Keemun Concerto and Yunnan Sourcing’s Premium Grade AA Jin Jun Mei, not surprising for a Fujian black tea. Malty sweetness but one noted. No bitterness, tartness, or astringency.
I got this from the portions sampler and I feel at this price point you might want to look at other brands first.
sold for $14/ 2oz
Loose black tea. Dry leaves have a minty smell, the tea turned out pretty floral even though it’s not as sweet as I wish. I wouldn’t say it taste malty. A little astringent after a while, but definitely not bad at all.
Currently it is out of stock and mine came from the portions sampler. I don’t know how much the price is for this.
Loose black tea. This tea reminds me of Yunnan Sourcing’s Jinjunmei sampler somehow. Dry leaves smell like spicy chocolate, the tea came out malty when I was expecting a wine like profile. This taste similar to YS’s Premium Grade AA Jin Jun Mei but a tad less malty. The wet leaves have a similar burnt smell too but not as potent.
I don’t hate this tea, but it’s weird how much this tastes like a souchong.
sold for $10/ 2oz
Loose oolong tea. Dry leaves smelled like dried carrots, the brewed tea smells like a standard bai hao oolong. First sip did not have muscat flavor, I left the grandpa style brew on the table to vacum the house and had another sip afterwards, the tea then tasted like a bai hao. The tea tastes like a very standard bai hao with a tiny bit of astringency.
Very odd that this didn’t immediately taste like a bai hao, never happened to other bai haos I own. It did deliver on flavors though.
sold for $14/1.5 oz
Loose black tea. Dry leaves contains visible gold hair, smell of chili chocolate. The taste….it’s like a muted puer tea. A bit of cocoa, light astringency, a bit of wood rose afterwards, it doesn’t have a lot of other flavors and it’s lacking in sweetness. Leaves are pretty broken. I’ve had tea bags that tasted better than this.
It’s not expensive so I’m not extremely upset, I bought the Black teas of China sample pack but this can be bought separately.
sold for $9/2oz
Loose black tea. This tea is part of the mooncake gift box but can be bought separately. Vaguely chocolate smell from dry leaves, light liquor, flowery fragrance. The tea has an almost rose water flavor, no bitterness or astringency, it’s light for a black tea yet the lychee like note is still rather aromatic.
$15 for 40g isn’t a terrible price and I am considering buying this again.

Flavored oolong tea bags. Oddly this reminds me of Harney and Sons’ milky oolong the most but with additional orange flavor. The two both have this smooth butter flavor and I don’t think OSULLOC created this flavor intentionally. I wish the tea offered more tartness/sourness, it would make it more interesting in my opinion.
Bought this at H Mart for $10.49/20 tea bags.
Sold for $14.99//20 tea bags.
Earl Grey tea bags. Possibly one of the best impulse buy recently. The whole box has an almost lemon zest smell, it’s highly aromatic. This is cleanest earl grey I’ve had and it might be the best one I ever made. Did not expect a Korean brand to have better earl grey than western brands. Normally I like intense tea but I don’t mind this being on the lighter side. If someone said they hated earl grey I would tell them try this, it goes down extremely easy.
I got mine at H Mart for $10.49/20 tea bags, I don’t see Osulloc’s American website selling this.
Sold for 9500 South Korean won ($6.83)/ 20 tea bags
Was gifted a tin of oolong. Couldn’t guess what kind of tea this would be from the name, it turned out to be very rock tea like though it is not from Fujian. The producer is from Wuyi and the tea is from Guangxi, the two places are 900 miles apart.
The dry leaves smell like milk chocolate, this tea taste like a mixture of dahongpao and black tea, it is sweet, toasty, savory, flowery, fruity, and grassy. The aroma and sweetness reminds me of some sweeter dancongs I’ve had. Hydrated leaves are 2 inches long, I don’t see much broken particles. Overall a very interesting tea as in it’s hard to put it in one category, flavor-wise this has a bit of everything, it’s really nice.
sold for $29.99/40g
Flavored black tea. If I had to guess the base might be some unsmoked souchong blend, it is so well blended all the distinctive characters of the black teas are gone. The smell is very peachy but the taste isn’t fruity at all.
The tea is rather expensive in the US, if you’re buying this from the UK then the price isn’t that bad.
