12 Tasting Notes

I like this tea a lot. I tried it two ways; first black (very good), then with a little soy milk to misto it up like a London Fog. I found it a little weak (but still tasty) when I added the splash of soy milk, so I think I should have steeped it longer for that. Will try it again with a longer steep time than recommended (it says five minutes, but if you’re adding anything it wouldn’t be a bad idea to steep it a minute longer, maybe 6 minutes.)

I haven’t tried Twinings’ Decaf Earl Grey but that’s the one I would like to compare this to and add an update with my impressions of each. Overall, I really like this tea, and plan to experiment with it a little further.

Numi in general, I’ve found, is an excellent brand. I’ve never been disappointed by anything they’ve offered.

UPDATE: I’ve read from a blog (http://breweddaily.com/2009/01/homemade-london-fog-tea-latte/) that Earl Grey can get bitter if oversteeped – and that the best bet is to use two tea bags instead.

This tea is good, despite the fact that it reminds me of artificial melon more than real melon (think Jolly Ranchers). As far as white teas go, I have only found one I really liked though – so I might just be picky.

It’s definitely worth a sip, and I wouldn’t refuse it if it was offered to me. But I don’t think I’d keep it permanently stocked in my tea closet. I’m still on the lookout for that perfect melon tea…

As soon as I sipped this Neopolitan nectar, I knew it would be a staple in my tea closet. This tea is incredible. It is the perfect dessert tea – sweet, classy, and delicious. I never liked the previous teas I’d tasted from Republic of Tea (despite their adorable tea tins), but now I’m starting to understand what the hype is about. The carob in this tea adds a nice earthy note to the sweet flavor palette.

I had it with a little bit of dark chocolate in there as a garnish. It’s a good replacement for hot cocoa at night because it’s so low in caffeine. All in all, I hope you give it a try.

Incredibly soothing tea. Great tea to unwind with in the evening. An unexpected favorite which I want to keep in stock.

This tea is amazing. Ever since the very first box, it became a staple in my tea closet. It is every bit as tasty as the name suggests, and it’s one of the few teas I would buy again as it ran out. I also like that it’s decaffeinated and tastes much smoother than your average green tea. There are very few green teas I would whole-heartedly recommend, and this one is a must-try in my opinion.

I like this tea. Not my favorite from Tazo, but it’s not bad and I enjoyed drinking it. It does have a bit of a bitter aftertaste considering it’s a white tea, and I think the name sounds better than the tea tastes (I picked up on a hint of the apricot, but couldn’t really taste the vanilla). For someone who’s used to Celestial Seasonings’ more vibrant vanilla flavor, that part was a bit of a letdown. However, this is still a wonderful late-afternoon relaxing tea that would be a great pairing with a good book. It doesn’t compare to a luxurious Fujian white tea but if I wasn’t looking for a dessert tea or a posh treat to serve to guests – just a nice afternoon tea to enjoy while I relaxed – this would not disappoint.

I really enjoyed this English breakfast tea, and love that I found a decaf black tea that I actually like. It’s perfect for brinner, I think – had it as an accompaniment to a vegan version of a full English breakfast and it was absolutely perfect. The reason I don’t give it a higher score is because I haven’t tried a wide enough variety of English breakfast teas to see how it stacks up against other brands. Once I do, I’ll be able to tweak the review. So far, very satisfied.

Tastes sharp – but it’s not really my thing. Maybe I could have toned it down with some almond milk, but I really only like this for dipping some Biscoff biscuits in. I’ll stick to regular black tea chai from now on, methinks
