This was one of the last teas I bought before moving out of Canada.. and I kept forgetting to try it!

DRY: Smells almost like peaches and cream instant oatmeal. Fruity with a little woodsy. Lots of bricks of dark orange and yellow fruit things.

STEEPED: Ambery look (as always) and fruit smell. I snagged a steeped dark orange chunk and it was very tasty dried papaya. Dang, I could probably snack on them and wreck future cups of tea. Other chunks turned out to be apple and I saw one melted looking fruit that was probably mango.

Looks like I didn’t get the water hot enough. My kettle was purchased in the US with F temperatures, with DT’s temperatures listed in C.. and I only know C so I failed at choosing a hot enough water setting.

TASTE: Light tea. Green roobios with a hit of apple sweetness, and I can taste a little papaya filling my mouth. The green roobios is pretty nice and is the main taste, with fruit in the background. The fruit flavor stays in my mouth after I finish the cup – very yum. I tossed in a couple rock sugars with 40% of my cup left and it brought out the sweetness of the fruit a bit more.

WHO WOULD LIKE THIS TEA: fruity peeps – papaya tea is uncommon. Roobios drinkers, however this green roobios is not bad and this roobios-disliker liked this cup of tea. People who like/want decaf tea.

COMMENTS: Not bad – I love the papaya and I now need to try more teas with papaya in it. I’m not a huge roobios fan, but this tea had a great flavor to it with a great combo of fruit and the green roobios being very good.

I want to try this double strength iced and rock sugar sweetened. I’d drink this whole 20g I got and not share, but probably won’t buy more – it is pretty nice tea but it didn’t punch-me-in-the-face-wow-me and not in my favorite range of tastes. However, I would recommend others to try this tea. I can see why this is a popular DT tea.

I got 50g of this tea for free off a DavidsTea newsletter/promo thing. Pretty cool! I think a few months back I was wanting to buy this tea in the store, but couldn’t get it as they moved it to online only.

DRY: strong, sweet, lemon. Totally like lemon curd. I see lots of lemongrass chunks, oh my!

STEEPED: brown-gold. Hint of lemon smell..rooibosy for sure

TASTE (HOT TEA): Lemongrass comes out a lot with some other lemon flavours coming out like the lemon peel. Not sweet unlike the smell. Rooibos comes out. In the end, lemony without the tart but a little bitter from something – the lots of lemongrass or roobios.
Sweetened with honey: very mellow lemony – like a weak lemonaide. Still can taste the lemongrass.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Lemongrass lovers. Maybe rooibos drinkers. People who like to sweeten their tea. You like lemon, but dislike tartyness of other brands of tea.

COMMENTS: I had to sweeten this tea or this woulda been a pour out. I love lemongrass, but not this much. I wish it was more lemony like the smell of the dry leaves. With honey (and i’d love to add a lemon slice to this) the tea tastes good and mellow – not bitter.
I think this would be better iced – if I get around to it, I’ll review it again iced. But hot, I’d give Three Lemon Green a 60 rating.

I prepared this tea iced with honey and dropped thin lemon slices into the pitcher.

Very good for iced tea, much better than hot, especially with the lemon slices. Lemony with lots of dimension with the lemongrass flavor – no tartness. Very refreshing with the rooibos flavour.
Very different than the typical black tea lemon ice tea – no caffeine and no bitterness.

IMO, I would stick to this tea cold, it is very good. I don’t know if I’d buy again since I’m more of a hot tea drinker, but this is pretty good. 70 rating for Iced

Second review of this tea.

In my last review, my cup turned bitter and strong – but had so much potential in being a good tea.

This time – 165f/70c and 4 mins. It made a world of difference! 80% of the bitterness is gone with more of the floral and mysterious peachyness.
That 20% bitter tastes like black tea to me – still oversteeped a little – but a significant improvement.
I might dropped the tempurature some more, or reduce the steeping time to 3 minutes.

With that said – this is a great tea, but more care is needed to have a great cup. That and a snazzy hot water kettle that does multiple tempuratures.

I love earl grey teas – however have been unsuccessful in finding one that comes in loose leaf form. So far they are either not bergamonty, too bitter, poor black tea. With DT’s “earls garden” I found it tasted like raisins!!! My fav has been Stash’s “double bergamont”. Stash? BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

So, when this “Earl of Lemon” tea came out, I was pumped. White bai mu dan tea, Green tea (and I tweeted DT and found out its a chinese green, not sencha green) and yogurt? I love yogurt in tea!
Lets give this one a shot!

DRY: very light tea, so i got alot for 50g, yesss! also states 1.25 tsp a cup, even more savings! Nice colouring of light green, yellow and white squares that look sparkely – yogurt im guessing. The dry leaves smell like earl grey, but lighter in a more refreshing way.

STEEPTED: Light yellow green. I found one of those sparkley squiares and smushed it to taste – yogurt, but spicy strong bergamonty! wahhhh!

TASTE: Earl grey (duh) – hit of lemon, no bitterness and slightly creamy. Light, but in the white tea/green tea light way but packed with citrus. The bergamont comes out well, as does the lemon. Very similar to “Lady Earl Grey” tea, but actually more lighter, more lemon and that hint of creamyness. Since there is no bitterness, I feel like adding cream/sugar would take away from enjoying the flavour.

RECOMENDATIONS: to peeps who like earl grey (duh #2). People who like Lady Earl greys or want to try somethign similar. If you loooove bergamont, this tea comes out as a moderate level of it. However this tea is pretty light, a green or white tea drinker might want to try to bridge into earl greys.

COMMENTS: I feel like Captain Picard, but more delicate and female, LOL, when I drink this tea. I like the yogurt in it and it is a perfect at balancing out the flavours. I love bergamont (hence liking double berg teas) and this is a satisfactory level – any more in this tea and it would be kinda nutty strong and I couldn’t enjoy the white tea.
I don’t agree that this tea is like DT’s “Lime gelato” – lime gelato is quite strong in lime, tart, and the sencha green and yogurt comes out more, whereas this one is more true to earl grey flavor, bit of lemon/yogurt and lighter with the white tea. I’d say it’s very much “Lady Earl Grey” like i said earlier.

Hmmm.. Id say this has been the best Earl grey tea i’ve had in loose leaf form. I wish the yogurt came out more or maybe had white chocolate instead – or maybe that is too crazy? I’ll play with steeping times (seen other reviewers doing 1minute steeps) and see how it goes. Overall, very solid, lovely tea. I love you Davidstea!

What?? How did I not review my favorite tea?
I just came on Steepster to just add how much I love this tea, even though I reviewed it already.. but apparently I didn’t review it.

I first came across this tea and got a measly 30g and loved it. I saved it for long crappy days I’d have at work. I saved the last scoop and drank it in the airport after dealing with stress with immigration and moving into a new country.

In my recent DT’s order I got 100g of this tea. I missed it so much.

DRY: I don’t want to go down and fetch my tin to see how it smells because I’m just going to brew more. I don’t need more, I want to savor this cup. It smells good though. Trust me.

STEEPED: smells chocolately, roastedly smell with a hint of sweet. A brown amber colour brew.

TASTE: mild chocolate – very different than the earthy thick chocolate you get in black tea blends. After that, there is a wonderful balanced mix of a roasted taste (not spicy).. the almond or the mate? Then as it goes down, it tastes sweet with a hint of raspberry.
The tea is overall light and easy to drink, but also full of flavour. There is no bitterness.

RECOMMENDATIONS: If you want something different. You want a morning/afternoon tea to get you through the day – this tea will keep you up at night from the mate. It’s not your typical chocolate black tea. It is only mildly fruity, so some fruit tea peeps might not be 100% into it. Tea lovers who dislike bitterness of black and greens would love Chocolate Rocket. If you’ve tried mate and didn’t like it, give this one a sampling.

COMMENTS: Love this tea. I felt crappy that I ran out of this tea and complained to my husband that I want to order more. This is the best mate tea I’ve had.

This tea I’ve added to my permanent collection – please keep selling it DT, as I will be buying more when I run out!

I ordered this tea as part of a big DavidsTea order. Man, I miss having a DT nearby. They need to have one in southern California! I was going to buy either this or “Superberry”, but I love blueberries and this won in the final order.

DRY LEAVES: Very fruity and sweet smelling. Emphasis on the sweet. Lots of little berries in there. I ate one, it was tasty!

STEEPED: Steeps into a dark dark reddy black brew. Smells like black tea as far as I can tell when it’s hot. As it’s cooled to warm it smells more berryfruity.

TASTE: I messed up the steep time, since I was so excited I forgot to set the timer! DOH! However, the tea came out well.
Blend of black tea at first sip, then a dance of blueberries. A slight hit of dry/bitter at the end, but that could of been me oversteeping. The sweetness of the stevia is barely noticable and there is no funky stevia aftertaste.
As the tea cools and the more I drink it, it becomes more and more blueberry flavor, slightly sweeter and less blacktea. A very robust tea!

RECOMMENDED FOR: This one has a broad range. Fruit tea lovers for sure (even if you aren’t into black tea), ice tea freaks. Strong tea peeps. People who aren’t into tea but love blueberries (and who doesn’t love berries?). I’m going to even try this tea on my tea-hating husband.

COMMENTS: Hotdamn DavidsTea, all your teas with blueberries that I’ve tried so far ROCK! I still need to get my hands on Superberry, then I’ve tried them all to date. “White Tiger” is well loved by me, the blueberry flavour and white tea is so crisp and delicate – it’s like a sister to “Blueberry Jam”.
I was worried this was going to be a sickening-tongue-weird sweet with the stevia and name of “Blueberry Jam” but it’s not. It’s a well balanced matchup of black tea and berries, making it very delicious. If one was to sweeten it, it would be closer to sweet jam. I think this would make an amazing iced tea!

Grossly enough, I burped while drinking this tea and the burp aftertaste was yummy blueberry, as if I had been eating a handful of blueberries.

In the end, it’s a great tea. I got 50g, so this will last me awhile. I wish I could buy smaller doses, like in store, online. It’s my first cup, so I’m not addicted yet. If I get addicted, I’m getting 100g and adding it to my permanent collection.

I bought only 10g of this tea (before moving to California from Vancouver BC) because it smells like a dupe of my fav tea “Lovers Cup” by Silverhills(I think? I get it from the Famers Market in Downtown LA). Lovers Cup is floral, sweet, and a perfect mix of black and gree tea. If it was a dupe, hey I know another source of this tea… or maybe it will be better than my fav tea!
THen I held off on trying it because I only bought 10g of it! Doh!

Dry: Dry leaves smell floral and kind of peachy. Okay really peachy.. with no peaches. Very fragrant.

Steeped: brownish amber, a colour mix of black and green tea. Very pretty with the flower petals. Smells now more like black tea and floral jasmine. This would look killer in a glass travel mug or tea pot! 9/10 on prettyness!

Taste: Pronounced black tea flavour. After the black tea taste, the scent of floral hits me, with the strong floral taste and a tiny touch of sweetness at the end of my throat. Not much green tea taste, probably mixed in with the black tea.

Recommended: for black tea lovers (english breakfast variety people) and for people who love floral teas. I love floral teas, especially ones I wish I could wear as perfume! Hey tea companies, get on that idea!!!!!!!!!!

Me: The black tea is on the side of overstepped-bitter and strong. I steeped it for the suggested low-end time of 4 minutes on the package, but for boiling water (going with black tea). I wonder if steeping it at a lower tempurature would help? The lack of green tea taste is a bummer, but it might be mixing with the black to make it over-steeped bitter.
The floral bit is amazing though. Smells amazing and I’d rub it all overmyself looking like a freak. A tea addicted freak. Oh yeeeeah.

Would I buy more? Not sure. if i can make it taste less bitter, probably, but “lovers cup” has an edge on the perfect balance of flavours and floral, IMO. No I won’t add sugar to my tea (unless it’s a chai/iced). But hey, as a perfume, I’d buy it and lather myself in it driving everyone crazy.

This is one of the last teas I snagged in store (in a small quantity) before I moved out of Canada.

Dry Leaves: smells like buttery, popcorn.. a little fruity. Oddly, I shuffle around and don’t see much popcorn, just a few smashed bumps. Mostly just apple pieces.. lots of apple pieces. A little bit of green tea. I tried to make a 2tsp full that had more popcorn and green tea. I could see I about used all the popcorn and my next cups will be pure apple. I sneaked a cup before reviewing this and I got pure apple.

Steeped: Pear colour, light green tea colour. Smells a little caramelly apple.

Taste: Mild – Buttery, slight caramel and apple taste. A little sweet. Backburner: green tea. The flavours are balanced nicely and go together well. Absolutely no tart.
Reminds me of those popcorn balls I’d get at halloween (from a neighbour, home made and lots of begging to eat during the candy check).

Recommend: If you like popcorn teas – like genmaicha, try this. Also if you like sweeter teas. I’d recommend to buy online (or see if you are getting the first few purchases from that batch in store) to ensure you get an optimal mix of tea contents. This tea has a mild tea taste, so it would be good for people new to tea or do not like strong tea tastes.

My Thoughts: I got totally burned on this batch. I sneaked a cup before this review back in Canada and it was straight apple chunks (I had to really mix it and dump out to get stuff that wasn’t apple). I’m guessing the popcorn shifts to the top so that goes first. Then there is so much apple in the tea that there is a higher chance of getting that.. and the green tea is the heavy part that sinks to the bottom.
This was pretty much the only good cup I’m going to get out of my purchase, sigh. It’s not bad, unique. I’d love to show it to my tea-hating husband, but alas, I’m out after 2 cups unless I want pure apple tea.
Overall, not bad. I might purchase again but I feel burned enough that I might pass due to hard feelings.

This tea is part of my very first order at 52 Teas. Reviews looked good, so I added it. I never ate a strawberry zabaglione so I had to google it to what it was.

Dried: SWEEET! very sweet. Strawberry. So sweet and strawberry that it was more of a fake strawberry smell, but not that “red” fake smell, more strawberry tangy crazy sweet.

Steeped: black tea, reddy amber colour. Smells creamy, berry and black tea.

Taste: Black tea (for sure!) then a hit of creamyness with strawberry sweet at the end. Fairly mild, IMO, for creamy and strawberry. Very good black tea.

This would be the 3rd 52 teas I reviewed and I’m noticing a trend in the flavours being fairly mild – the dominate taste being to enjoy the tea, with subtle hit of wild flavour at the end. If you read most of my reviews, I love DavidsTea, which I find does the reverse of wild flavour concept that peek out more or has a stronger fruit flavour than the tea. This 52 teas would be “Black tea, Strawberry Zabaglione flavour” vs it being actual drinkable Strawberry Zabaglione.

With that said, I’d check this tea out if you are a black tea lover and want a little cream/sweet/berry without adding cream. This might make a killer latte.

Me? I’ll finish this stash or potentially give away to friends. I prefer something more stronger for fruity/cream taste.

I saw this tea the first time I looked at 52tea’s site and I wanted it, but it was sold out. This tea has gotta be awesome, I thought, right up my alley.
When more came available, I jumped on it and snagged a package.

Dried leaves: Looks like genmaicha… I don’t see any cherries..? Smells like… well.. sweet cherries. Like a cherry topping ontop of a cheesecake. OOhh yum!

Steeped: once I poured the hot water in, a cherry re-hydrated immediately and appeared in my steeper, cool! The tea colour is like.. well.. green tea. Smell is genmaicha with a hint of sweet.
Water temperature.. uhhh.. I have a fancy pants kettle and I used the “green tea” temperature. It’s in Fahrenheit and since I’m Canadian those numbers are jiberish, I have no idea what that meant or remembered what it was and too lazy to go downstairs to check when I can sit here and continue to drink tea. hehehe. Probably like 160f-170?

Taste: hint of cherry, hit of the rice/butteryness of the genmaicha mixed with green tea. The cherryness of the tea is very subtle, adding some sweetness to the mouth. I’m not getting the “cherry cheesecake” of this tea. So this comes up as a “slightly fruity and sweet genmaicha” tea instead of cherry cheesecake tea.
That re-hydrated cherry? yeah, don’t eat it. I ate mine and it was bitter horrible bruised tasted.

I know a few peeps that LOVE their genmaicha. Those peeps would LOVE this tea – adds a new dimension on this tea. I get genmaicha at sushi restaurants and often brew it with takehome/homemade sushi, but this one is too sweet for that. Maybe drink a cup when you are craving some green tea icecream.. oh yeah.
THATS AN IDEA – mix cherries/cookies/cheesecake chunks/vanilla in green tea icecream! Someone get on that!!!

Me? I like a genmaicha tea as staple in my house but unfortunately Cherry Cheesecake Genmaicha won’t replace that as it is a sweet tea. I find it too subtle for my liking, but it is a fine tea. I know a few people who would love this and I’m not in love with this tea so I’d end up giving it away to friends.
