193 Tasting Notes
This was my second favourite tea out of my recent Butiki order! This has been my go-to weekend morning tea but I have just steeped the last of it this morning, NOOOOO! I might have to make another order soon as this tea will be a must have in the fall.
I always wanted to try this, but it was so expensive and I wasn’t sure if I would like the jasmine as I had never had it before, so I held off. Unfortunately, I waited too long as David’s is now phasing this one out. I gave it a shot recently as I had tried some floral teas and loved them and this was no exception. This is the first floral tea I’ve tried that I can actually taste floral notes (barely and I think it was because I over-steeped it), but I also taste….. GRAPE! Like grape candy, but it doesn’t taste at all artificial. I loved this tea so much that I was going to buy the 250g clearance bag from the website, but it sold out the day that I went to make the order. Our local David’s still has a bunch but it is full price. This tea is worth it though so I stocked up!
This tea is one of my current favourites. As with all other floral teas, this tea doesn’t taste floral to me, it tastes like fruit. I can’t exactly pinpoint what fruit. Peach? Melon? Maybe both? But one thing I know is it is delicious. I need milk in most tea, I guess I just like creaminess, but this tea is good with or without milk. It is also good iced. This tea has made its way into my regulars and will stay there.
I love this tea! This tea opened the door to the world of floral teas for me. I guess I just always assumed that I wouldn’t like floral teas, but David’s had this on as the tea of the day one day and I loved it. It doesn’t taste floral to me at all, it just tastes like mandarin for some reason. And I’ve found that all floral teas taste fruity to me. This one is just really light and refreshing. It’s my favourite tea iced. The only problem is that when I make it, it’s always slightly bitter, I guess I just have to play around with it a bit more. It’s never bitter when I have it at the store.
I over-steeped this, so it’s not really fair that I’m writing this, but looking at the other reviews, I don’t think my thoughts are too far off. I could barely drink this tea as the bergamot was so strong! It almost hurt my throat. I did finish the cup because after a few sips I got used to it, but that was all I could taste, no orange flavour, no green tea, just bergamot. I have enough left for another cup so I will give it another shot. I’m hoping that is was my fault because after loving the earl of lemon so much, I had high hopes for this tea.
I have been slowly trying all of David’s teas as it is the only store we have in my city and I am getting to the bottom of the barrel. I don’t know why I didn’t try this one sooner, I guess it’s because Earl Grey isn’t my favourite, and neither is white tea as it is expensive and finicky. I have to say that I LOVE THIS TEA. A new favourite right now. It’s so light and creamy and refreshing. The lemon flavour is so fresh and not overpowering. I only re-steeped this once but the re-steep was even better than the first cup (more lemon flavour). If you like earl grey and lemon, or even if you don’t, I would try this tea!
This was my favourite of David’s summer teas, but to me there wasn’t much competition. 3 of the teas were herbals which I don’t care for and mint julep was just not for me (I’m not a fan of mint unless it is paired with chocolate). This is my favourite coconut flavoured tea by far, it is so creamy and light. And this white tea isn’t as finicky as other white teas, I haven’t ruined any yet which says a lot because I ruin nearly half of the white tea I brew, either through too hot of water or over steeping.
This tea was my least favourite of the new fall teas, though I wasn’t expecting much else from it. I think mainly because it has way too many ingredients. It has so many different powders in it which actually come through in the drink. I don’t know how something can taste powdery, but this one does. I like the coffee flavour in it, but the berry flavour is quite artificial tasting to me. It’s not bad, but it’s not something I could include in my regular line up.
Out of David’s new fall teas, I was most excited about this one. I thought it would just taste like sugar and spice, but it’s actually quite hard to pinpoint the flavour, it isn’t very distinct, kind of like a mish mash of fruit and spice. This seems like a cross between the pumpkin chai and mom’s apple pie, like they just blended the two together. It would have been better if they would have left out the apple and carrot. This isn’t the worst of the fall teas (I actually liked them all), but it was the biggest disappointment. Though, it is still good and I will probably buy another sample to give it another shot.
