Part of the Upton Imports Darjeeling Sampler I purchased recently since I am trying to broaden my horizons. :)

I steeped this for 3 minutes with boiling per the instructions on the tin. I am finding it to be very fragrant with the spicy notes and it is a nice medium amber color. It has a lot of fruit but also a lot of tannins so pungent is definitely the word of the day and I’m not sure I’m truly a fan of this although it is growing on me a bit the more I sit here and sip on it.

I’ve tried a few “soft wither” teas from Upton’s, and really like them. I was eyeing this one, but haven’t purchased it yet. These do tend to be softer than some “modern” 2nd Darjeelings. They can be pungent, so when they are, sometomes I add a dash of milk to take the edge off and I always use H2O slightly under boiling (200-205). Tis should help with the tannins without masking the qualities and flavor of the tea.

I tried my Yunnan Spiral Buds yesterday afternoon (now 1:25 am est). It was and is phenominal!! I’m having trouble accessing portions of features on Steepster, so I’ll post my review later today. :))

Dislikes include: bergamot, jasmine, highly tannic or bitter teas, overly judgmental and bitter people. :)

Live in San Francisco, I’m a SINK (single income, no kids) and love the urban life, but traveling out to the middle of nowhere is always fun too.

I tend to not drink things I know I will hate so a lot of my tea ratings are on the higher side. Here’s my rating system, sorta
