74 Tasting Notes
I got this one as part of the “12 Teas of Christmas” gift set from my in-laws. I was very pleasantly surprised.
Though I was a little sad that it didn’t glitter the way it did in the past, I thought the gold star candy pieces added a cute touch. I couldn’t really taste them, which I thought was for the best. I really enjoyed the subtle spiciness of this tea. My sensitive stomach can’t handle anything too strong, so this was just right. It’s all gone now, but it made a great morning tea while it lasted.

Wow. It’s been a while since I’ve been on here. So many teas have gone undocumented since medical school started to eat up all of my free time.
But here I am, procrastinating when I should be studying brain anatomy. What can you do?
I was very pleasantly surprised by this tea. For Christmas, a dear friend of mine gave me a gift in the form of a care package that contained two bags of tea from Teavana, marked “pick me up” and “take me down.” I thought this was the sweetest thing ever, since my life has completely gone off the rails in recent months. It’s not bad, really, since I like the idea of working towards a goal and giving it my all, but as any medical student can attest, it’s quite exhausting.
Anyway, this was the “pick me up” tea. It’s pleasantly caffeinated, but not so much to upset my stomach or give me jitters. With my ever-expanding list of chronic health issues, this makes a big difference. I tried having some coffee for the first time in months yesterday, and it just… didn’t work. Ugh. This, on the other hand, will be a great way to start my mornings for the next while. It’s got a hint of fruity sweetness without being overly chemical or too sugary. I’m also quite enjoying pu-ehr now that I know how to steep it properly. The earthy tea and sweet strawberries balance each other very well, and make for a drink that’s both relaxing and invigorating in all the right ways.
I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys a bit of fruity goodness without the sticky sugar aftertaste.

^^Also, check out my new tea mug from Teavana. I’m totally in love with it!

I’m so glad I caved and bought some of this before leaving home. It’s become a daily staple that I thoroughly enjoy both hot and cold. A lot of the time I’ll cold steep it overnight so that I have an ice cold mug of tea to sip throughout my morning classes. I’m a huge fan of the Jasmine Phoenix Dragon Pearls, so any combination of those with a fruity herbal tea is usually a hit with me. It also resteeps well, so I’m making sure to get my money’s worth.
Hey everyone!
Sorry for my sudden absence from Steepster. I’ve started medical school, and it’s a whole new world out here. I gave away the vast majority of my tea collection before the big move, and am now left with a more limited (though still quite impressive in my opinion) collection of favourites from home.
This one in particular has been getting me through the early mornings before long days of class. It’s been so hot out that I haven’t felt much like drinking coffee when I wake up. I find this tea a refreshing alternative that gives me somewhat the same caffeine buzz. It’s definitely going to be a staple of mine.
Really, you can’t go wrong with lemon and ginger. They’re two of my tea favourites combined with enough caffeinated good stuff that it has a kick. The taste is nothing mind blowing or new, but it’s a solid tea choice that I quite enjoy.

I’m just coming out of a four-day stretch of migraines, so please bear with me if this note jumps around and makes less sense than usual. My brain still isn’t fully functional.
I went into Teavana looking to buy some of the Scarlet Jasmine I tried last time. The employee working at the counter informed me that the Scarlet Jasmine was actually a blend of this tea and the Jasmine Dragon Phoenix Pearls. Instead of buying the minimum 100g (why don’t they let you buy blended teas in smaller quantities?), I decided to buy 50g of the Dragonfruit to blend at home with my DavidsTea Dragon Pearls. The result tasted almost exactly like the in-store Scarlet Jasmine sample. So hooray for spending less money than I had intended!
On its own, this one makes a nice bedtime tea. It’s a little on the sweet side, so I prefer it blended with green tea, but as far as fruity herbals go it’s one I would enjoy having regularly. I imagine it will be fantastic cold. I’ll have to try that soon.
It’s got a lot of apple and strawberry. I’m not familiar enough with the taste of dragonfruit to pick it out specifically, but I’m sure it’s there. This one tastes much less artificial than some other blends I’ve tried. I also enjoy the light floral scent of the leaves. I’m a fan of floral/fruit blends. The hibiscus adds a nice tart touch, but isn’t overpowering in any way.
Overall, I like it. I’m glad I invested in this one.

Another sipdown. We’re really making our way through my tea stash, even though it may not look that way given my gigantic cupboard still full of tins.
This one is the husband’s favourite. He drinks coffee all day long, but likes to wind down with a cup of this before bed every night. I like it a lot too, but usually opt for something less spicy before bed.
We’ll have to stock up again. This isn’t one he’ll be happy to go without.
I haven’t tried it as a latte yet, but I’ll have to do that. I went back and bought some more of it today. So much for decreasing my tea hoard!
I feel you! I was doing so well with decreasing my collection about 6 weeks ago but then I did tea swaps and generously got lots of samples from people I swapped with and I went to David’s tea and ended up picking up 14 kinds of tea (all 10-26 grams though!). So my collection went from about 15 tea to 45 teas! I’m down to about 38 kinds now and am refusing to purchase anymore til I start getting low on my staples (i.e. green tea, peppermint tea, lemony tea) which will be quite some time. I mainly buy from DAVIDs and luckily none of their new teas have interested me lately. It decreases my temptation :)

Goodbye, old friend. I always loved you, but due to the big move I’m going to hold off on getting more. The last cup was in iced form, after a long evening of packing and cleaning. This one will be on my list of teas to return to in the future. I find it a nice and relaxing way to end the day.

I finally finished off the last of the tea I won at my friend’s bridal shower. Despite the mixed reviews, I still love it, even after finishing all 100g. I really want to go buy more, but am trying to resist because a) we’re moving and b) Teavana is crazy expensive. I do intend on revisiting this one at some point in the future, though. Maybe after I’ve had some of that Scarlet Jasmine I tried last week.

The tin is officially empty. I’ll be back for more, though. Probably even today, since they’re having the tin + perfect mug promotion.
There’s not much to say about this tea that I haven’t before. It’s a staple of mine. In a perfect world, I would probably prefer to have a never ending supply of Golden Orchid from Whispering Pines instead of this one, but at more than double the price I can’t justify it.
Cream of Earl Grey, I will never tire of you. 100% simply because I drink you more frequently than anything else in the cupboard.

I used up the last of this to make some iced tea while packing for our big move yesterday. I mixed in a few of the Dragon Pearls, hoping it would make some kind of heavenly cold concoction. To be honest, I think the dragon pearls were wasted on this super sweet fruity thing. After having a few cups, I actually think I may have rated this too high initially. It’s fun and new, but I tire of it quickly. It was nice to have around, but I won’t be buying more.
Definitely going to try this on Steeper points!
You should! it’s worth a try.
