Dammit, Teavana. You have so many teas that would become staples of mine if they weren’t so expensive.

I tried a hot cup of this at the mall this afternoon, and loved it. Then I looked at the receipt and realized that I’d paid 5 bucks for a cup of tea. 5 bucks! Yikes! It’s too bad, really. I wish I weren’t such a sucker for green teas with jasmine and/or fruit. This combination in particular is really nice. It reminds me of some of the blends I used to make using the Jasmine Dragon Phoenix Pearls. Light, refreshing, slightly fruity, and slightly floral without being too sweet. Everything I like in a tea, especially in the spring months.

Maybe some nice person (*cough*husband*cough*?) might buy me some as a birthday present. I can’t justify Teavana prices on a med student budget.

Edit: I feel like I should also mention that the Teavana I go to is lovely, with no pushy staff or shady business practices. I feel like they sometimes get a bad reputation, but the people at the Calgary locations have always been very nice to me.

Totally hear you! I’ve never tried Teavana, but with David’s tea some of my absolutely favorite teas (which are greens!) are the most expensive (Butterfly Jasmine and Gyokuro Yamishiro are two of them, and they are nearly $20/50 grams!). What I do is treat these teas as “treat” teas on a morning where I can sit back and fully enjoy the teas without mindlessly guzzling it. I also have been only getting these teas when I have a free 50 gram bag with my frequent steeper points :).

That is very smart. I love that they have the free 50g promotion. I’ve made use of it an almost embarrassing number of times. I used my last free 50g on a guayusa when really I should have gone for the Butterfly Jasmine or the Dragon Pearls. Next time!

I actually just tried guayusa for the first time and I adore it. It’s one of their cheapest teas, a good kick-in-the-butt amount of stimulant, plus it doesn’t upset my stomach! Once I get my collection down I will be restocking :)

I don’t usually buy from Teavana, but I was suckered by a $10 off coupon. This tea was sitting at the front of the store as a sampler, and I enjoyed it. Though, I am bothered by the fact that Teavana sweetens their sample teas. For health, I try to limit how often I put sugar in my tea, so I want to taste JUST the tea.

Right now I’m drinking a 5th steep of this tea. The original was a pretty pinkish red. It was sweet, a bit fruity and a fair bite of jasmine. Five steeps later, Jasmine is the dominant flavour with a slight hint of berry at the end.

Oh, also note that Teavana recommends using 2-3 teaspoons of this tea PER CUP. All I can think about is that this tea is going to last me 2-3 times LESS than any other teas in my cupboard.

Rant moment: It bothered me how pushy the sales person was. She must have told me like 3 times about their horrible “promotion” of buy a butt load of tea and get one CUP to-go free. It was something like you had to buy 100g of teas of 3 teas. I remember doing the math in my head and figuring you’d have to spend at $60-$80 to get your free $4 cup of tea… Seriously??

Anyway, in conclusion I like this tea. But I’m not a big fan of Teavana, so once it’s gone I probably won’t restock. (Unless they have some kind of crazy blow out sale)

Not sure where to start about this tea. I don’t have enough experience with Jasmine tea for a proper comparison so I don’t know how to rate this. It is fairly tasty but not spectacular. It rates as low in caffeine which is why I am trying it tonight. The nice thing about Teavana is they rate all their teas by caffeine content. I bought this one to bump my order up to free shipping.

I brewed this once in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with 3 tsp leaf and 175 degree water for 3 min.
