This is super cute, but the flavor isn’t anything special. It’s a nice basic black tea and you can “feel” the peppermint. I didn’t really get anything from the white chocolate bits, although they clearly melted and made a cloudy tea. The scent is strongly candy cane rather than just peppermint.

Flavors: Cream, Peppermint

I like this one but was expecting something better from the reviews. It’s a nice basic black tea with a hint of creamy flavor and a touch of cinnamon. I really didn’t get any citrus taste or scent from it, and it wasn’t sweet to me (although I admittedly tend to like things kind of on the sweet side). I like it fine, and the stars are a cute gimmick, but it’s nothing special.

drank Hot Chocolate by DAVIDsTEA

It’s a nice rich tea, strongly chocolate scented though not strongly flavored. A little sugar definitely improved the complexity of this. It’s rather earthy in a good way. However, it didn’t knock my socks off. I’d gladly drink more of it, but don’t have a need to do so.

Wow, this is an interesting one. Definitely very strong pineapple flavor, with clearly present coconut and strawberry. It’s almost like drinking a warm fruit punch. I think the pineapple is a little bit overwhelming and it could be balanced a bit better. I enjoy the first half of the cup, then it gets a little much. It’s another one I think would be great iced, probably better than hot.

Ooh, I like this one! It definitely does remind me of French toast, and it has a nice balance of spice in it. (No cloves, thank you very much!) Very cozy and warm. I think it would probably be good with a little milk in it, too, although since I only had a sample, I haven’t tried it that way. I’ll definitely be looking into getting some more of this!

Mine has kind of an odd, sourish note to the scent when I open the package, but the brewed tea smells nice, rather like chocolate and cake (yet somehow not chocolate cake!). The flavor is pretty meh to me – a bit astringent (Adagio black for the win there), not much spice flavor in my bag, and I’m usually pretty sensitive to “spice.” It has an earthiness that I think is from the chocolate. There is a hint of chocolate aftertaste but not much. Same goes for the cake taste. Just overall, a basic black tea taste with a hint of chocolate and a hint of cake. I’ll probably finish the bag, but won’t buy more.

I only get a very faint chocolate aftertaste with this one. It comes across mostly as a mild chai. Basically, nothing remarkable, but nice enough. I did use a bit more tea than ordinary.

I enjoyed this one. It was definitely tropically fruity, but the green tea in it saved it from overkill. It was both tart and sweet, but not actually sour. My kids liked it, too, including the one who doesn’t usually like anything with actual tea in it. I had it hot, but I think it would make a good iced tea as well. I’ll likely order some of this next go round.

drank Candy Apple by Adagio Teas

This is strong black tea, better brewed a little cooler because it tends toward bitterness. I get a caramel flavor with, unsurprisingly, a faint bit of apple. It’s not very strongly flavored, which is probably good because I suspect the flavor could easily taste artificial and sweet. However, since there’s just a hint of it, it’s actually pretty enjoyable.

Wow, very interesting that my experience is almost opposite that of RariTea. Mine had a very fruity and floral scent with just a little spice. It almost smelled like a fruity potpourri. The flavor was very strong fruit, kind of apple-y but not quite, so I’m guessing that’s the flavor of pear in tea. The ginger was more of a candied ginger, and to me it was pretty mild – I almost didn’t notice it except for the zing at the end that ginger gives. I generally hate ginger, and I could drink this tea with no problem, so that tells you just how un-gingery my sample was. If you really want the ginger, don’t get this one. For a fruity tea, it was OK but nothing special. The tea backbone was nicely balanced, though.

Bio

Wife, mom of 2 crazy young kids (and 3 cats, if they count). Used to be a professional tree hugger, now I stay at home hobbit-like and teach the kids to love the trees. Also hobbit-like, I love reading, tea, second breakfasts, cooking and food in general, and gardens. (I can’t really say I love gardening since where I live, it’s too dratted hot for too much of the year to actually do it.) I am always on the search for a good flavored decaf black tea. Suggestions are more than welcome!

I tend to like my teas strong, so I use more than most people when I brew. Don’t be put off a tea because I say I used 4 tsp to brew 12 oz or something – that’s just me.

PS – Unlike a hobbit, my toes are not furry. I just feel the need to clarify.
