8 Tasting Notes
I like to have a caffeine free tea in the evening and I’m always looking for alternatives to your Rooibos, Mints or HoneyBushes. I saw this and thought I would give it a shot.
First, while this isn’t the most expensive tea, you don’t get a lot per ounce. It has big chunks of banana slices that are heavy.
Second, while it does have a nutty flavor and is reminiscent of banana bread. It is VERY banana forward. Hot banana water is not my favorite drink.
I did manage to work my way through the 4 ounces, but I won’t be buying this one again.
Flavors: Almond
Preparation
This is a great daily driver. The oolong has a nice earthy taste and it is balanced with the slightly sweet “sticky rice” leaves. The rice leaves are a Chinese herb called Nuo Mi Xiang. They lend a smooth creaminess to the tea. It has great balance. It’s quite flavorful without being overpowering.
Beautiful tea leaves that start off as tight bundles and open up fully as steeped. It is marked as “low caffeine” but this tea does have a little bit of zip to it. Perhaps because I steep it for 3 or 4 cups.
Flavors: Creamy, Earth, Rice, Smooth
Preparation
The complexity of this tea is amazing. It’s made with only Oolong Tea leaves but the depth of flavor is incredible. It has a bit of dry grass / hay scent to it when brewed and you definitely get those notes when tasting it too. However, what is most surprising is how bright this tea ends up being. It’s fruity and almost sweet. I taste dates and, as others have mentioned, lychee.
I am impressed, you gotta try this.
Flavors: Dried Fruit, Dry Grass, Hay, Lychee
Preparation
I really enjoy this tea. It’s a great morning drink. There is an earthy/nuttiness with the black tea. The peppercorns add a zesty pop and the allspice brings almost a clove flavor. It all works really well together and it’s great pick me up.
It’s sure to put your morning power level over 9000.
Flavors: Clove, Earth, Peppercorn
Preparation
Black tea, chocolate, cinnamon, coconut, vanilla. This tea sounds great on paper, like an Almond Joy with a hint of cinnamon. However, the reality is a little bit different. The flavors all kind of get lost together. It’s a little cinnamon forward and the chocolate does lend a bit of creaminess even though the flavor is quite subdued.
It’s not a bad tea. I don’t think I would buy it again though.
Flavors: Chocolate, Cinnamon, Coconut, Vanilla
Preparation
I was actually very surprised by this tea. I usually don’t like rose flavored things because it tends to punch you in the face, like potpourri or some old perfume. However, I was looking for something low-caffeine in the afternoon and had this.
The flavor is really quite delicate and not overwhelming at all. You definitely get the rose with some very slight earthiness from the white tea. I found myself reaching for a packet of this quite often.
I would recommend and will pick it up again.
Flavors: Earth, Floral, Rose
Preparation
This is a favorite in our household. It has a nice earthy taste along with a maple flavor accompanied by hints cocoa. It’s a Hojicha, which means the green tea is roasted. The earthiness/nuttiness of the roasted leaves matches great with the slight sweetness. It’s very delicious and flavorful without being overwhelming.
I definitely recommend this one.
Flavors: Cocoa, Earth, Maple, Nuts
Preparation
This tea is pretty good. I don’t think it’s sweet enough to call it a “Carrot Cupcake”. It’s very apple forward with the other flavors complimenting that. All the flavors are there, but it’s a little more mild than I would have thought. It’s a nice tea for the evening. I was expecting it to be more desserty than it is. I would get it again.
Flavors: Apple, Carrot, Cinnamon, Rooibos, Vanilla
