772 Tasting Notes
Very tropical, with the pineapple and the coconut but the hibiscus just ruins everything for me. Turns it sour instead of sweet and fruity. Into the free box it goes. Perhaps someone who doesn’t loathe hibiscus as much as me will enjoy it
Sipsby Box from October 2018
Preparation
Drinking the last of this. Still very pleasant. Only going for 2 steeps this time, for one because it’s almost 5pm and for 2, the third steep last time was pretty weak and I have fewer leaves in it this time since I’m using up my last of it.
Still a very pleasant Assam. If I didn’t have a plethora of black teas waiting in my cupboard already for me to get to them, I’d think about buying more, but alas I do.
Drinking this in hopes that the placebo effect will help me. Although I’m edging up on Anxiety level 4 going to 5 so this is probably not going to help that. Maybe. Hard to say. Caffeine is so weird. I missed yesterday because as I predicted, 3 days a week is too much but I had to shift some hours onto today since I have no vacation left which means I don’t get to leave work until 6pm (usually leave time 1pm) so I’m not please and very unhappy, and anxious.
But that has nothing to do with this tea, which is tasty.
NEEDED to have this again. So good. Just feeling so poorly. I’m now on a medically reduced work schedule but still need to work 3 days a week, which feels like 1 too many but that’s what I got. This tea is getting me through the day. Like a hug in a cup.
Sorry that you are feeling less than a 100%. And the thing about being forced to work more than what would be good or doable for you makes me want to flip a table.
Hurray for hugs in a cup!
I tried this, briefly, at Queen Mary Tea Room while I was there on Saturday with my Mom. It was my first choice for my afternoon tea spread. I thought it would be like the Queen’s Earl Grey since it was the same ingredients, just adding mint. I love the Queen’s flavours and thought mint would be a nice subtle addition. Instead it was MINT. MINT MINT MINT. Hardly anything else got through. I got through one cup of it and asked for something else. Nicely, they didn’t charge me for what I drank, just got me a new tea, the Almond Cream, which I now I like. A good time out with my Mom. And I didn’t gain too much weight either! It seems like you’re eating so much food but you’re drinking a ton of tea and taking 2 hours to eat lunch so it’s really not that much altogether. Still my favourite tea house.
I went to tea at Queen Mary Tea Room with my Mom this weekend and had this (and also a disastrous first tea, but the good tea note first). I’ve had this before from this place, although I don’t like it enough to buy some. Yet. Very smooth, very sweet, very nice mouthfeel. I usually shy away from almond teas since almond oil can be so very awful but this is very very nice.
Preparation
Still my favourite vanilla tea. Darkly flavoured (if that makes sense), very malty but nicely vanilla. I didn’t feel like anything that was on top of my desk so I went spelunking in my treats drawer and found this and I haven’t had it in….a small forever. It was time, especially after the disappontment of earlier. Still very fond of this tea. Maybe if I find some coconut and put it in myself I can make myself a fantastic coconut that way. Does anyone know who might sell giant flakes of coconut as a tea ingredient?
I just found this, never tried it. https://www.svtea.com/Coconut-shredded-organic/productinfo/H0075/ SV also has a coconut black tea.
This was a free sample in my AQTT order and wow. I should never doubt them when coconut is involved. This is amazing. I want more. I shared it with my mom and she also thought it was amazing. This is sweet and coconutty and nutty in the best way. I can’t tell you how long I steeped either of the two steeps I did since I lost track of time but it never got bitter. Fantastic.
