557 Tasting Notes
Ah ha! I did slightly overleaf my last steep with my last bit of sample. At two and a half minutes for the second steep, this is a lovely rose tea with just a hint of green apple. This is what I’ve been looking for in this tea and this is what will make me go out and get a tin of this once I have enough money!
Preparation
Mmmm, juicy green apples with rose. The apple leaves a bit of a tart taste in my mouth, but I am hesitant to add sugar to it. It is the last of my sample, but it isn’t perfect just yet….
…I went and added two teaspoons of sugar. I don’t know what it is with me adding things to tea recently. But now it is like an apple and rose tart. And now it is morphing into a rose and apple cider. It tastes really, really good.
I love the tea just by itself, but I must not be getting the leaf amount and water temperature right. I still have the leaves in my press, so I might try a second steep tomorrow before giving up on my little sample.
Wow. English Breakfast is harsher than I remembered. That’s what I get for getting used to putting some sugar in my tea. After a few sips it is back to normal. I did get used to milk in this one, so it is like a yummy creamy non-cocoa cocoa rich.
I think I can tell that I stayed up much too late last night with that sentence. Lesson: when I have to get up at a decent time for work, go to bed earlier!
Preparation
I had this with a bowl of oatmeal this morning and it was surprisingly satisfying. I forgot how much I liked it because every time I look at it I think that it is going to be so strong like the Assam in Irish Breakfast. But it isn’t. It is tasty without any milk at all.
Preparation
And there goes the last of the box. Very satisfying! I’m sad that it is gone though, but maybe now I can explore my tea basket and see what I still have in there.
So, I opened this and started drinking this a total of four days ago? Well, I think it got me back into tea drinking because I have a little more than 1/4 of the box left. It is really delicious. I have settled on two teaspoons of sugar and a splash of milk for all cups. 3 minutes for a regular mug, 4 for a medium mug, and 5 for my big huge Tardis mug and travel mug.
I have been having a rough time with my schedule, so I picked up a box of tea to try to enjoy. I have been tipping over to the dark side and indulging in coffee after coffee after coffee.
I first brewed this tea last night. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, so I actually followed the directions on the box and brewed for three minutes instead of my usual four to five. It didn’t smell like much until I stirred it and then there was this light caramel scent. It was like somebody took regular Red Rose tea and just dropped a hard caramel candy in it then let it dissolve. There was a light caramel taste, but not that much.
Then came the milk and that almost covered up the caramel but brought out a much more creamy flavor. Then came the sugar and there was bliss! With the milk and sugar it was downright melted caramel cream all the way through.
After the success of last night, I’m having it again this morning. This time I added sugar before just to see how it tasted. Without the milk it is more of liquid hard caramel candies melted slowly into the hot water then had tea added to it. Still tasty, but milk landed in my cup anyway for more bliss.
I want to try the other dessert teas they have out now. This might help me get weaned off of a ton of caffeine that is stuck in coffee and soda.
Preparation
I think I might be slightly addicted to this tea. It just is so comforting from the smell of the dry leaves to the final taste with milk. That and it is the only real batch of tea that I can pick up at the store with it loose in a tin. And the loose leaf version is vastly superior to the bagged version. And it also makes a pretty good iced tea too.
