drank Kumquat by Lupicia
424 tasting notes

The first thing I noticed when I opened this is that the sticker on the tin said, “Best by 3/2015”…seriously, less than six months? That seems super short for a black tea. I emailed them to see if something about this one makes it fade fast or if I got an old tin.

The dry leaf smelled really great, like fresh oranges. Brewed it was the same. The kumquat flavor is very bright and I really enjoyed the cup. I guess it’s a good thing if I have to drink it down by March!

i recall something on their website about expiration dates…..

Marzipan

I ordered four black teas in this order, all of the others had much longer dates.

I have a flavored green from Lupicia past the date on the package that still tastes delicious! So a black tea should be okay?

Bio

Mom of two practically grown girls, extremely happily married to a man who is amused by my obsession with tea, and company owner who works from home. Life is good.

Likes/dislikes: I love black teas, especially strong/malty ones. I am ok with flavored teas if the base is strong. I like some whites. I really don’t like any tea that tastes “green” – if I wanted to drink something that tastes like green beans, I would cook some green beans. I am not big on green teas or genmaichas. I am learning to like puerhs.

If we are trading, I have a STRONG aversion to coconut, banana and licorice. I love citrus, vanilla and spice. Not a fan of florals.
