212 Tasting Notes
The old Thai tea from Teavana was, by far, much more impressive in my opinion. In fact, I only picked this up to see if was some thing close in taste.
I find it very sweet perhaps that star anise. The almonds are a nice touch to the hint of spice I taste. The rooibos doesn’t seem to be present in this flavor profile.
Preparation
I thoroughly enjoy this tea. I find it rich and inviting. The lovely, vanilla aroma is very relaxing. I pick up a bit of the chocolate but the vanilla is the dominant flavor. The tea shines through in the end. It has an interesting feel on my tongue, a smooth almost velvety texture. That seems silly because it’s just water flavored by the tea leaves. I think this one shall be a staple tea.
Preparation
This tea has opened my eyes to green teas in general. I never really thought I would enjoy a green much but this is really good.
The roasted rice bits in there almost make me feel that I’m eating some thing with my tea. They don’t overwhelm the tea, which is bonus.
It does well with multiple steepings.
I feel this is a very comforting tea. Not too complex just very relaxing. Some thing to enjoy on a day that’s been less than stellar.
Preparation
I pulled this one out tonight just for some thing different than the flavored teas we’ve been drinking. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it.
For a black tea, I find it incredibly light and crisp. There is a floral hint in there. To my surprise, I find it very relaxing.
Preparation
This is a particularly cozy tea for me. Great for days when you’ve been out in the cold all day. The base tea still shines through the rum flavor.
I’d keep it around just to try on people who are new to tea. The taste isn’t too complex. It’s a great tea to relax with.
Forever more this is pirate tea. It reminds me of one of my favorite movies, Pirates of the Caribbean.
Preparation
This is another favorite tea of mine.
It’s not nearly as creamy as the Red Rocks, but it does have a stronger vanilla flavor. The hint of chamomile is a pleasant surprise. It blends very nicely with the vanilla and rooibos.
For me this tea is quite a bit sweeter than most of the vanilla rooibos I’ve tried. This may be an important consideration for others.
Some thing else to ruminate on is price. This particular vanilla rooibos is one of the cheaper teas. Red Rocks is considerably higher priced. I have found that it is just a good steeped 4 or 5 times as the first. Red Rocks falls a bit shorter on that. I get 3 good steepings with it.
Preparation
I expected a lot from this blend. I pick up the chocolate and a sweet, medicinal syrup flavor. If I didn’t know better I’d swear I was drinking chocolate flavored cough syrup. I missed the vanilla entirely. Maybe roasted mate isn’t for me. This particular tea is definitely not for me. My finance took it in to work and gave it to a co-worker who loves it.
Preparation
I really don’t like these Teavana Mates teas - I have been doing loose tea for years and Teavana was one of the first teas I have tried - Sometimes I think a company will have a flavored tea and it loses something in it - I just tried Mate factor Yerba Mate dark roast - It is amazing – very smooth – It doesn’t have the bitterness of other mate teas can have —
I am pretty impressed with this tea despite the confusion of getting instead of the tea I ordered.
The cinnamon flavor didn’t overwhelm the other spices. I really enjoyed the nutmeg as an addition. I was surprised to find I could taste the other spices in this chai! Teavana seems to have trouble finding balance of the spices in their chais.
I really enjoy chais for all the flavors they blend together. Since this tea has done a good job of that, I’m rating it high.
