We ask of words what we ourselves cannot do – contain and convey the complexity of our experiences and emotions. Little containers with little labels, containing meaning! Not too long ago, we chanced upon one such little container labeled ‘Trouvaille’. “Such a pretty word!” Searching for the meaning yielded even prettier results – The joy of an unexpected find. Finding something by chance. “Getting Lucky!”

The surprise, the joy, the ‘acquisition’ – are all contained within Trouvaille but it is always more about the feeling of ‘Getting Lucky’ than what we acquired by luck. It reveals the benevolence of forces at work. As real as our need to be in control is, we also need to be reminded that there are other forces working to our end. That somehow, even with our limited awareness we can catch a glimpse of something and recognize its significance to us. That what we hold in significance watches out for us too. The thing about finding something unexpected, is that it makes us feel ‘found’ or ‘seen’ too. No prettier feeling than that. Trouvaille!

Coming across this tea, almost overlooked, just when we thought we were done with the first lot of floral offerings of spring, the word drove its relevance home. In hindsight, we should have expected Trouvaille, having experienced the Spring’s evocation of Duende, the connection of Sonder, the presence of Saudade and the expression of Villanelle. But, then again, we can’t really anticipate the unexpected. Finding the word, finding it’s meaning and then finding the tea – it was all trouvaille.

Beginning with the Dry leaves, the plucking has the aroma of Olives. The liquor is thick and a slightly fuller-yellow in color with a smooth texture. The rising Vanilla-Biscuit aroma is immediately recognizable. With the Honey-Green Grape taste, the tea cools down to give way to a more citrous-flowery flavor, ultimately tailing with the aroma of honey and mangoes. The delivery of Trouvaille leans ever so slightly towards a fruity profile although the Flowery aspect never loses weight. It’s unexpectedly joyful, to say the least, the Trouvaille.
