20 Tasting Notes
I am not opposed to almond, but it’s not one of my primary flavor preferences. I got this as a sample from the lovely people at Adagio because I like their Vanilla Oolong.
The almond flavor is nice, but it’s a little bright – as pointed out, it feels a little almond-extracty. Adagio’s oolong is always nice, but it’s just not as strong with such a sharp almond flavor. I’ll finish the sample packet, but I doubt I’ll buy any more when there are other flavors that I enjoy more.
Flavors: Almond, Nutty, Sweet, Tea
Preparation
I got this as a free sample when I mentioned that I liked the Vanilla Oolong. While I’m a fan of vanilla, as others have pointed out I’m not sure it works with green tea all that well. The vanilla flavor is very hard to even detect under the very bright green tea flavor. Not horrible, but not enough of one or the other to stand out.
Flavors: Tea, Vanilla
Preparation
Had a sample of this at Adagio Teas today. You may be detecting a theme in my notes: I like fruit teas. This was nice, not too sweet and a lovely tart flavor. I think if I were making it at home I’d probably add a little sugar. Would be nice on ice, very refreshing.
Flavors: Cherry, Tart, Tea
Preparation
Even with no added sugar at all, this is a sweet, fruity tea. I had a sample of it at Adagio Teas today. The flavor was good, with the fruit strong but not overwhelming the rooibos. I bet it would be nice on ice.
Flavors: Fruity, Rooibos, Sweet
Preparation
I already reviewed this one, but at that time I hadn’t tried it iced. I am pleased to report that it is very nice on ice, sweet and refreshing and for some reason (perhaps the ice cut the floral taste more than the others for some reason) a little less floral, with more accent on the strawberry flavor.
I tried it iced because I made some and I got distracted and didn’t drink most of it before it was lukewarm. So I just dropped in some ice cubes. It was NOT made extra-strong in anticipation of icing, although I tend to make my tea fairly stiff. :) It was fine and didn’t taste watered down at all. I definitely liked it better iced.
Flavors: Cream, Strawberry, Tea, Vanilla
Preparation
I got this as a free sample while I was buying some other teas at Adagio. It’s a nice breakfast tea: for some reason it reminds me of cereal. The vanilla is not overpowering, and the oolong has a good flavor.
Flavors: Tea, Vanilla
Preparation
A nice hybrid tea with fruity notes and lots of interesting flavor from the mix of Ti Kwan Yin oolong and pu’erh. I can’t evaluate its weight-loss claims, but it does seem to have a little more zip than most teas. (I am a serious caffeine addict: tea has to have a lot of caffeine for me to even notice.) The name makes it sound kind of silly, but it’s actually a fairly sophisticated taste combination.
Flavors: Floral, Fruity, Tart, Tea
Preparation
Got the four-pack sampler for Christmas. Agree with other tasters – way, way too much Jasmine. At least, I assume that’s what it is, since all there is in it is green tea and Jasmine and it wasn’t green tea I tasted. If you like Jasmine/floral flavors, give it a go.
Note: All the ThinkGeek teas have exactly the same preparation instructions – five minutes, boiling water. I used water of a temperature more appropriate for green tea. Didn’t help.
Flavors: Jasmine, Tea
Preparation
Got the four-pack tea sampler for Christmas. This stuff is just nasty. I don’t know if I just don’t care for bergamot, or this particular blend wasn’t good. (This is the only Earl Grey blend I recall drinking.) But extremely bitter and tasting of unripe fruit.
Flavors: Bergamot, Tea
