drank Dong Ding Oolong by TeaSpring

This is SO good. Dong Ding Oolong teas are one of those teas that I don’t think much about when ordering (usually, when shopping for Oolong, I’m shopping for Ali Shan), but, on the rare occasions when I do have one, it certainly is a treasured moment.

The early infusions start off pale in flavor, but after allowing a moment for the tea to settle into the palate, the flavors really came out. I tasted subtle nutty tones … sometimes that of a raw nut, and sometimes, it was more of a toasted, sweet nut, as well as hints of flower within the sip. The sip is far less vegetative than the aroma would have suggested to me. In later infusions, the flavor intensified, bringing forth stronger floral tones, sweetness that is almost like honey, and hints toward creaminess. There was also a fruit tone that was emerging, a tangy fruit, reminding me somewhat of a tart apple.

A very pleasant Oolong. I think I shall have to visit TeaSpring’s website soon and shop!

The name is most amusing Dong, Ding, or ding, dong ;-); I am actually not well today. Anyhow, after laughter cease, I viewed the picture up close and noted the tightly rolled leaves. I recognize this process. I will add this to my shopping list. Might you tell me which is it…toasted nut, sweet nut? and as far as tangy fruit why not that of a pineapple?
Sorry, I think I am having fun at your expense, but mine possibly or someone closer.

The reason I’m no longer writing for SororiTea Sisters is because I am now the Mad Tea Artist for 52Teas:

I’ll still be posting occasional reviews on teas here on Steepster, mostly backlogged reviews because I’m way behind on getting reviews posted. That’s why I’m keeping two accounts active at the current time – so that I can get those backlogged reviews posted.

My favorite teas are Yellow Teas with most Oolong teas at a close second. As far as “flavored” teas go, I love Earl Grey, Chocolate and Jasmine teas.

I also am intrigued by flavored teas with an unusual or unique flavor combination, which is why I was very excited to be the Mad Tea Artist of 52Teas!
