558 Tasting Notes
2nd tea out of my sampler. I don’t even know what to say about this tea. My tea taste buds are improving the more I sample better teas, but my vocabulary lacks the words to express what I’m tasting. I do like this tea, I just have nothing to compare it to it to yet.
Preparation
Brewed iced tea using 2 bags of this tea, 6oz hot water which I steeped for 7 minutes and then poured over 6oz of ice water. Check out the deep red liquor on this tea: http://www.flickr.com/photos/meghannm/
I tried this iced first rather than hot because it is an amazingly beautiful day outside. This makes a great bright flavored iced tea. The Pineapple really stands out as a fresh juicy pineapple. I can taste the lychee in the aftertaste. I was surprised to find the hibiscus is not too tart, and it wasn’t the prominent flavor, more the pineapple, then the hibiscus, then the lychee. This is so good!
Preparation
Hubby and I had these while shopping at our local Target. I tried mine with no water, and it was quite creamy. I think it’s much more spicy when it has water added. I think I’ll keep drinking it that way. Or just keep drinking my full leaf bags at home with a splash of cream and a packet of splenda. I haven’t found a loose chai blend I like better than their full leaf yet. I’ve tried a few, just haven’t tried Rishi or Samovar’s yet.
This tea turns very buttery when iced. Or maybe I just didn’t notice it when I last drank it hot. Buttery is not something I really enjoy in my greens, I haven’t found a time where I crave that attribute. Iced really brings out the buttery notes, just not what I was craving from these flavors. Oh, well, on to the next one.
Thank you AmazonV for passing this tea along to me! I was so excited to try it I had to brew a cup first thing.
This tea has such a sweet cherry aroma. I brewed according to Teavana’s directions: 1 minute @175 and used 1 heaping teaspoon for 8 oz. The liquor is very light, barely any color to it at all, but it smells like sweet cherry blossoms and ripe cherries. The taste is delicate on the tongue. A light tea flavor with a bit of cherry and a very pleasant sweet cherry aftertaste. I’m quite enjoying this tea. So far I think it’s the best green flavored tea I’ve tried, in that I can taste the tea, and the flavoring!
Preparation
Made this tonight and wasn’t impressed. I even made it in my glass teapot so I could enjoy viewing the leaves unfurl, didn’t see too much unfurling. This tea has less peach flavor that the black peach. Really hardly any peach flavor at all, I could smell the peach, it was peach colored, but no peach taste. Sad face :( I prefer the prettier H&S Pomegranate Oolong to this so far. Have yet to try other oolongs.
Preparation
I’m starting to see that. Now I’m hesitant to try the flavored teas I drooled over my first time perusing the site. I think I’ll try lupicia next. That is, after the Damman Freres order is placed. I better take it slow, my cupboard keeps getting fuller and I’m finding less and less time to drink tea! But trying to fit in at least one good cuppa a day.
You should try the Oolong Peach from Two Guys’ Tea. It is so good.

It feels a little pretentious sometimes, but I try to use the same vocabulary I would for wine; there’s a lot more information out there on wine tasting than tea tasting, and I feel less silly saying that I taste berries or spice or whatever in plain tea when I remember how many things people “taste” in fermented grape juice!
Someone posted this link in the forums a while ago – It’ll help you put what you’re tasting down into words:

I know how you feel,Tea Bird! It’s hard for me to find just the right words to express what I’m tasting and sometimes it’s so subtle that I just want to say “this tastes like tea”! :)
Thanks, Erin for re-posting that link! I’ve bookmarked it.
Great link, I hadn’t seen that one before, it helps me a lot, too! (Oh, dear, such a run on sentence, I think I had a wee bit too much caffeine today…!)
