558 Tasting Notes
This turned out to be a very smooth tea today, brewed without the astringency of the last tasting. I think I used a bit less leaf, 1 tsp instead of a heaping teaspoon, and I set a timer this time….wooohps. I also looked up the temperature recommendations on kusmi’s website and they recommend a bit less than boiling (185-190) so I shot for that.
I can’t taste the individual berries, but kind of a berry melange, which is more like berries n’ cream as I added a splash of cream. Great with just the cream and no sweetener, as I don’t have any (husband used it all in his tea, and keeps forgetting to replace it)((and by all I mean an entire 100 packet box of splenda in which I used 3 packets myself, gone in 2 weeks)(((I’m angry))) :)
Preparation
I loved the amount of ginger in this! There are pieces of candied ginger mixed in with the leaves and the taste is lightly sweet and spicy with ginger. I really enjoy the green tea base they use in this. I know it’s NOT sencha, but that’s about all I can tell with my lack of green tea experience. I didn’t do a 2nd steep yet, but I saved the leaves, so if I get around to it this afternoon I’ll let you know. I am craving black tea now that it is lunchtime.
I missed the hint of lemon in this, will try harder to find it next time!
Me neither…I’d love to try this green tea alone, but not sure what it is. I suppose I could contact Argo teas…they have a twitter…
Having this iced this morning with a 1/2 tsp of sugar. This makes a flavorful, tart hibiscus tea with a beautiful bright red liquor. I taste a light lime that blends smoothly with the hibiscus. If I had to choose, the Pineapple Lychee wins by a few teabags. But both are delicious. I think I tried this hot, but it looks like I didn’t bother to log it :(
Steeped up a steaming mug of this dessert scented black tea this morning with breakfast. Thanks Lori for sending a generous portion of this tea my way. It’s a sweet, toasted hazelnut black tea that did well on its own. I think next time I’ll try it with a splash of cream and dollop of sugar and see what flavors it may bring out. I think it would hold up well to milk and sugar. This is a delicious dessert tea (that I had for breakfast :))
Preparation
I have dessert teas all the time for breakfast! On the rare special occasion I even make matcha or chai drinking chocolate for breakfast… which of course is ok since tea and chocolate are both high in antioxidents… right…? It’s great to be an adult and drink/eat whatever the heck you want for breakfast!
To me, this tea has a tendency to be astringent. Also, it should definitely hold up well to cream and sugar…this tea is VERY strong..
First of the Damman Freres teas brought to us courtesy of Doulton. Again, many thanks for making this tasting possible. It seems the French can do no wrong with their blends!
Ahhh…now this is the epitome of flavored green tea for me. Smells like cherry blossoms and vegetal green tea. Like walking along a path in high grass and you come to a cherry tree and the wind gently wafts the delightful fragrance under your nose making you want to follow its trail and find it again. This was quite a delightful cup. More on the floral side for me then on the fruity, but the fruit was there in a soft representation of cherries. Glad I got to try this and have enough for several cups.
I made up a pitcher of Lemonberry black tea this morning so I would have a refreshing caffeinated tea to drink upon returning from work. This tea pulled through when I needed the afternoon pick me up.
The aroma is strong on the lemon, light on the berry, but in the taste, both were more subtle. The black tea base took over the flavor of the tea more than the citrus or berry. I’ll have to give this a try hot and see if more of the flavors that were in the aroma can be brought out.
I can definitely taste the tart cherries in this cup. There is a faint hint of coconut, honestly I was hoping for a bit more coconut, but it sure looks pretty mixed in with the tea leaves. The aroma reminds me of Teavana’s Sour Cherry Serenade but the taste isn’t quite a sour, this is a much more mellow blend. I will have to try this iced soon!
Preparation
I followed the steeping parameters today and tried this again. It was a little better. I tasted the strawberry while the tea was hot, but the peanut butter never came to the surface for me. This tea isn’t one I’d waste, but I’m thankful for AmazonV’s thoughtfulness at sending me a sample, because I don’t think I could get through a whole 2oz of this tea.
I was delighted when I got my mail this evening as there was a surprise package awaiting from AmazonV! A sample of PBJ Rooibos was in there among others, and the first I decided to try.
I didn’t set a timer, but I know it was over 5 minutes, but not sure by how long. I tried a few sips hot, a few after a minute or two, and several sips throughout our 1 hour tv program, but I can’t seem to taste anything other than pure red rooibos.
I’ll follow the directions more carefully and then allow myself to rate this. Maybe it needs a set 7 minute steep to get flavors out of it.
This one makes me curious… I’ve had strawberry flavored teas that had jammy qualities, so I’ve wondered if this one does since it’s supposed to.
I hope so…I want to get some flavor from it other than the rooibos. I probably shouldn’t have tried making any tea tonight after the lack of sleep and amount of traveling I’ve done in the last week. Finally returned home tonight! Will try again with a better head on my shoulders and a timer.
That’s where no frills bagged comes in (at least for me), cuz for me no tea is so much worse than just average tea.
Made a cup of iced sangria style tea today (no alcohol). I brewed it up like I would iced tea, but added 3 slices lime, 3 slices orange and 3 slices lemon squeezed slightly and muddled into the hot tea. Love the citrus flavor this brought out. This tea is wonderful by itself, but with the fruit it was very refreshing.
what a great idea! I’ll have to see what I have in my cupboard that I can do that with. Ohh maybe Canadian icewine, to get that red wine flavor without the kick. HHMmmm now you’ve got me thinking!
Holy s&*t! That much Splenda can’t be healthy! 0_o
