41 Tasting Notes
This is far and away my favourite of the fall collection.
The in-store sample I tried was surprisingly iced – and even more surprisingly, crazy delicious. I haven’t tried it iced since bringing it home (I tried to the other day but I was out of ice.. so i had a double strong hot cup :p ), but I love it hot too. I do think when this one is hot its a bit more drying, in that cranberry tart way.
As other people have mentioned, and as my boyfriend repeatedly reminds me, this tea smells exactly like a craft store in the fall, or like a scented fall wreath or something. It weirds him out but it just makes me want to drink it more. =)
This tea has become the underdog favourite of my collection! I’ve only had the small 12 ish gram sampler that came in my very first david’s tea sample pack, and I’m polishing that off as we speak.
I’m not sure if its the mulberries, or maybe I really like white tea, but I love everything about this tea. I don’t have a whole lot of white teas to compare it to, but perhaps I should try more!
I find this sweet and smooth and creamy without actually being sugary or milky in any way. It smells warm and sweet and comforting. This one’s expensive, so I can’t wait until I get my Frequent Steeper coupon so I can finally stock up!
This was actually the only tea from the Spring line that I tried. I love it. I’m generally less of a fan of green teas because I find they are grassy and irritate my throat, but this one is just divine. It’s so sweet and juicy and flavorful. Additionally, the quality of the leaves is superior to many of the other green’s I’ve tried from David’s. The tea doesn’t bother my throat, and goes down very easy. I should really try this iced, I’ve only had it hot so far.
I actually just managed to snag another small tin of this at David’s today even though it’s been discontinued for a couple months, so if it doesn’t come back next year I’ll have my fix. =)
Flavors: Fruity, Grapes
This blend smelled sickly sweet to me in the store, but the boyfriend wanted to try some, so we came home with a sample. To me this tastes an awful lot like the Shooting Starfruit tea when iced, but without the weird bitterness that I had. Which means I generally like it. I’m pretty sure he didn’t make it strong enough, but after the first couple sips I started to really enjoy it. I don’t think I’d reach for this on my own, but if the bf was having a glass i’d ask for one too.
Flavors: Fruity
This was one of the teas I was most interested in trying from my new summer collection. The smell in the store is what got me. I wouldn’t say it smelled delicious, but it smelled INTERESTING, and unique and awesome and I just had to have it. My boyfriend took one whiff and wouldn’t go near it with a 10 foot pole…
So when I made it at home, I made it iced. Initially, I really loved it! It tasted very sophisticated and grown up to me. I made a huge glass of it though, and sipped on it throughout the afternoon. I found by the end I was really not wanting to finish it. I think it was the hibiscus. It just seemed to taste more and more bitter, even though it wasn’t continually steeped. I think I just have to have this one in smaller amounts, and next time I’ll try sweetening it and see what I think of that.
I managed to resist going into a David’s to check out the summer collection for a few weeks at least.
Last time I was in I’d signed up for their rewards program so I had a free tea coupon. I had the very nice sales girl make me a cup of this iced. I opted to have it plain with no sweetener.
Holy wow was this ever delicious! I was sharing this with my boyfriend but after he had a sip I almost didn’t get it back. This was also the first ever iced tea I’ve had freshly prepared like this, and let me tell you, I’m completely sold on the whole concept. I bought the whole summer collection and I’ve been working my way through them since!
At the store this was super fruity and I didn’t taste the mint at all. When I made it at home, while it was steeping hot all I could smell was mint! It was crazy! Once iced, the mintiness diminished but it was still there. Still delicious. Love this tea.
I’ve decided I love this tea. I know before I was hesitant on the liquorice, but I’ve decided I quite like it! I’m interested to try some other liquorice teas and see what I think. I do love the chocolate nut flavour of this tea. I am not sure if I’d like a less chocolaty liquorice tea! I’m considering going back in and stocking up before this tea leaves in the spring. Haha..tea leaves..
