14 Tasting Notes
I really, really enjoy this tea!! However I do find it to be a bit weak in strength. I have a tendency to steep black teas for a loooong time, so that has definitely affected how I will percieve a tea’s strength. I’ve steeped it for longer periods with more tea than recommended and at a different temperature, and it still isn’t as strong as I may have preferred, but regardless of that it is a really lovely tea.
Definite eggy taste which is a pleasant surprise (it isn’t surprising in the sense that it’s supposed to be flavoured as french toast, but it’s surprising to me how well they pull it off!). Sweet enough for me from the coconut and cane sugars to not add any extra sugar or sweetener. I prefer drinking black teas with milk and sweetener/sugar and so my review is from this tea with milk added.
Lovely french toast flavour and a very relaxing tea to enjoy. I would like to get this again!
Sadly not a fan. I’ve had non-decaf Red Rose orange pekoe tea for many years of my life, and I’m pretty sure I’ve tried the decaf version before, but the most recent box we got of it was unpleasant. They changed the bag styles since I think I had it last, and while I’ve had mostly Tetley decaf black tea lately I found this to be very, very mild in flavour and it tasted kind of like grass to me. I tried it with two tea bags as well to see if it would help, and while it did make it stronger (I drink very strong black tea often) the grassy flavour was still there but more intense (which would make sense since I doubled the tea!). It wasn’t the worst, but it didn’t taste like orange pekoe to me. It actually reminded me a teensy bit of genmaicha, which I really enjoyed, but what put me off is that it isn’t supposed to taste that way. It didn’t taste as good as genmaicha, but it had a burnt grassy flavour that was reminiscent of it to me.
I’ve really enjoyed Red Rose tea for years, but I think when I drink tea from them I will stick with non-decaffeinated.

Very minty (hah!). Seriously though, even though one of the main ingredients is mint leaves, I was still surprised by how minty it was. Too strong for me, so next time I make it it will be with less leaves than recommended and/or a shorter steeping time.
Oily filmy drops on the top of prepared drink, to be expected from the chocolate drops in the ingredients.
The look of this dry tisane is so adorable!!! I love winter and snow, and the smell of this is quite lovely albeit veeeery strong. It smells very minty and chocolatey, and similar to After Eight chocolates. The chocolate flavour is definitely there in the prepared tea, but the mint dominates and I am not as huge a fan of mint as I thought I might be, so I will prepare this differently next time I have it.
I think it’s well made, I am just am not as big of fan of mint as I would like to be. If you are looking for a very strong minty drink with added chocolateyness, then I’d suggest this!!
And the score I give it is because I am not a fan of mint as much, it doesn’t mean it’s a sub-par tisane. If I liked mint more the score would be higher. It’s well prepared and I think it’s great for those who would prefer a strong mint.
