Before my review for the actual tea, allow me to just sing the praises of Bluebird Tea Co’s fab customer service! I placed my order on Thursday evening & paid for 1st class delivery, so my parcel should have shipped on Friday. Friday afternoon I received an email from Mike, apologising & saying that unfortunately he was out of the office all weekend & there was no-one that could ship my order until Monday. As I had paid for first class postage, he offered a partial refund for postage & a discount off my next order. He even offered to drop my package off personally on Monday in case it was urgent (I live about half an hour’s drive from Bluebird)! I was more than happy to wait & my order arrived, as promised, today. Excellent service & no doubt my discount code will go to good use come payday!
Anyway, onto the tea… In the bag, this looks amazing. Super pretty! I steeped for 4 mins & the resulting tea smelt just like raspberry jam, or indeed, the inside of a Victoria sponge cake! The taste was a little light but creamy, & I could definitely detect the coconut note that other reviewers have mentioned. Towards the bottom of the cup, the raspberry gave the tea a little bitterness, but nothing too sharp. I might try this with sugar to see if it helps bring out the cake flavour some more. Yum!
Preparation
This smells amazing- caramelised sugar! It was so strong I could still smell it half an hour after finishing my cup. The overwhelming smell made me worry it would be too sweet even for my sweet tooth, but nope, this is yummy! I didn’t get any pineapple at first, but it’s definitely there, along with a delicious creamy cake note. Quite different to what I was expecting, but an absolute winner!
Preparation
My Della Terra adventures continue! In the bag, this smelled divine- sweet & tangy lemons- so hopes were high! My only concern is that sometimes rooibos overpowers everything else in a blend, so I was hoping the same didn’t happen here.
No need to panic… this is yummy! The rooibos is definitely there, but it remains nicely in the background, whilst lemon is the most outstanding flavour. I added some sugar to bring out the sweetness & I did consider adding milk but no need- this is deliciously creamy all by itself. I’m currently drinking a second steep; the taste has muted somewhat but it’s still a wonderful tasting cup.
I’ll definitely be buying a big bag of this once my sample has run out!
Preparation
My first order from Della Terra arrived yesterday & this was the tea I was most intrigued by. Being English, I’ve never had the pleasure of having real s’mores so I can’t really make a comparison to how this tea compares!
Steeped for 4 mins with boiling water, sugar & a splash of milk. First impressions were not that great if I’m honest- the tea seemed very thin & although tasty, I couldn’t really pick out the individual notes. Chocolate tea with an extremely smooth aftertaste, which I’m thinking is the marshmallow. I tried a second steep & held off the milk, which did seem to allow the flavours to come through a little better. Hmmm. I guess I’m a little disappointed, but I’m putting it down to my tea making inexperience & novice taste buds. Looking forward to trying it again!
Preparation
My first First Flush & my first tasting note here on Steepster! I grabbed a sample of this in the Canton Tea Co sale as I was intrigued by the notes… Nothing like diving in at the deep end when you’re a tea newbie!
I steeped this for 3 minutes with boiling water. The tea is a rich golden colour with a distinct chocolatey aroma. I was pleasantly surprised that I could pick out so many of the listed notes, even as a novice tea taster- definitely floral yet smooth & not overpowering. Contemplating a bigger bag once my sample is used up!
