3 Tasting Notes
The dry leaves on this blend smell AMAZING. I love the way it smells so much that if it weren’t so pricey, I’d buy it in bulk and use it as potpourri! Between the cinnamon, coconut flakes and ginger, it smells like Christmas baking. Every time I open the bag, I just want to stick my head inside it and stay there!
Sadly, this doesn’t taste as great as it smells. If brewed as directed (1.5 tsp/8 oz for 5-6 min), it’s pretty weak in flavor. It tastes like tap water with a hint of cinnamon. I prefer my chai to be pretty bold in both aroma and flavor but this blend only provides that if I significantly increase the amount of leaves I use and steep it for a good while. I usually make up a pot and leave my leaves in there the whole time. My last cup always tastes better than my first, and it never gets bitter. The cinnamon spice flavor just intensifies which is what I like! I brew it with a little sugar, both with and without a splash of skim milk.
