254 tasting notes

This came with my last order from Adagio, and I figured from the start that it was going to be one of those teas pushed to the back of the cabinet, waiting for me to feel less than 100%. Well, it feels like something gnawed on the inside of my throat, so I decided to pull this one out. Camomile and I have an interesting relationship. When I’m well, it makes me feel nauseous but when I’m sick it’s nice and soothing.

This one is true to its brethren. It’s thick but not syrupy and goes down smoothly, giving my sinuses a little kick with the peppermint. Sadly, with the state of my nose right now I can’t pick out anything else, but those two elements do stand out.

I was surprised at the chunkiness when I first tried to measure it out – all the flowers had risen to the top, so I had to close it up again and shake it all around (maybe that’s where the dance name comes from?) to even things out. The directions said to steep for 5-10 minutes, so I steeped it for… oops. I was going to say 8 minutes, but then I realized that the pinch infuser doohickey is still in there. I guess I’m still infusing it! Yeah, I think another nap is totally in order.

All in all, the name is fun yet a little odd – when I’m ill enough to enjoy this tea, I’m probably never going to be up for dancing, but it does the job and I have to respect that.

Feel free to browse my cupboard if you’re interested in swapping, but all the mate and pu-erh in our household is my husband’s.

For swapping purposes, please note the apple allergy. Thank you!

I tried to limit my cupboard to teas that were 1oz or larger, but that was a gorgeous failure in terms of swap communication. It’s all going back up.

Okay, I just feel wrong trying to grade things without a rubric – it’s too inconsistent! So, here is the grading breakdown:

0-50: Dump it!
50-60: I might finish the cup
60-70: Possibly finish the pot
70-80: I may keep this on hand
80-90: Cupboard space guaranteed
90-100: Poetry may be involved!
