Zong Zi Keemun

Dry Leaf: Mostly Zong Zi leaf!
Liquor Colour: Deep orange/red
Liquor Aroma: Sweet with slight reed leaf
Flavour: Shortbread, hints of spice (cinnamon?)

This interesting Zong Zi Keemun Black Tea comes in a wonderful little serving wrapped in reed leaf. The traditional brewing method may differ from what you are used to. The good news is that it’s simple. Just pop the Zong Zi Keemun into a kettle suitable for boining tea (preferably glass so you can watch the process) and boil it! If you’re an instagrammer, be sure to have your camera ready, it’s a fun ride! The zong zi keemun tea will float quite high in the cold water when you first put it in, but as the water heats up the wrapped bundle of joy will slowly begin to sink. The water will remain quite clear for most of the boiling process, only really deepening to the desired color of deep orange/red once the water has been boiling for a few minutes. When you hit this point the tea is ready!

The liquor aroma is sweet with a slight leafiness (not overly surprising). The flavor has hints of baked pastry or shortbread and subtle hints of spice (maybe cinnamon or cardemom?). I even thought I picked up some hints of candy-cane!?! I’m a huge fan of Keemun and this Zong Zi Keemun Black Tea did not dissappoint.
