Another tea from the cute, stackable sampler!

It has a bit of an odd, apricot-like scent as it steeps. It made me a bit nervous, but I’ve really been into light, fruity teas lately. I figured this would be just what I wanted. And surprisingly, it is! It reminds me a lot of the Tea Forte greens and whites I’ve been trying lately. Especially in the way that it reminds me a bit of a Bath and Body Works scent. (As always, in a good way!)

From what I understand, “ambrosia” refers to a heavenly sort of fruit punch? That’s pretty much what this tastes like. The white Assam is muted, there for a sort of background strength that’s hard to describe. I taste plum as the primary fruit, but also lots of other flavors. Berries, pears, cherries. It’s like a delicious fruit cocktail. I might have to get the full size tin of this stuff. Another winner from Zhena’s!

The first of this sampler pack that I genuinely enjoy. I accidentally let this steep for 7 minutes instead of the recommended 3-5 and it is not at all bitter. Very light, in fact. I was skeptical of the inclusion of Stevia because it seems that sweetener is a personal preference…however I think it works. Without the sweetener this might actually taste bland.

I picked up this tea at a little shop called the Golden Leaf in Tipp City, Ohio. They had a variety of loose leaf teas and this one caught my eye. It definitely has a fruity flavor. I haven’t tried many white teas, so I can’t compare. Even though fruit flavored teas are not my favorite, this one is pretty good. I think I’d enjoy it more iced.

First, I must give a shoutout to the lady at the post office who intercepted this package after the postman had attempted to deliver it to the WRONG ROAD and written “return to sender” on it. Without her I would not be drinking this very fine tea.

So my tastebuds must be hyper-attuned to detect plum at twenty paces, because I find this tea PLUMTASTIC. From popping open the tea, I get strong ume – dark, cherryish, pungent – and after brewing for 4 mins, drinking it tastes like smooth, uncomplicated white tea with a tangy plum aftertaste. In between sips it’s like I’m rolling a ripe, delicious plum around and around my mouth. Best of all: absolutely no detectable stevia taste.

Sweet plum tea, light in colour, but full of a juicy plum flavour. I loved it!

I liked this tea a lot. It’s light and not bitter at first, the sweetness of the white tea wasn’t battling any bitter tastes. Not a very strong flavor since I didn’t need to steep it for very long at all, I drank most of it before it had been steeped for too long but leaving it in for more than 3 minutes I did notice a bitter taste. Steeping it anywhere from 1 minutes to 2 and half minutes is more than enough if the light taste is what you want and that’s what I recommend. Not sure if it tastes like plum, but it definitely does not taste like a fruity tea, since I didn’t taste the strawberry leave or the plum really it was more flavored by the rose petals in my opinion.
All in all a good simple tea, when you’re not looking for anything too overpowering.

As I am a big fan of Zhena’s Gypsy Teas, I was not impressed by this tea. It does possess the usual tea freshness from this brand, but the taste was very weak and watery.

Aroma: Fruity [light fruits]…that’s about it.

Taste: Very weak and watery during the whole time of keeping the sachet in the water, it never grew stronger. However, this brand’s teas are always fresh and fresh tasting no matter the version whether I am using their couture sachets or regular sachets. There was not much “tea” taste either albeit, there were White Assam and Indian Green which I would imagine have a little more flavor but there wasn’t. A very weak tea.

Aftertaste: Little remnants of fruit and of the dietary supplement Stevia [which by-the-way, I DO NOT LIKE…it tastes of watery sugar, not much of a help].

Overall, I would not waste my money on this one, tea lovers…I received a sample and thought of giving it a try; glad I did because I would not buy this on my own. Too weak, too watery a taste!

Next time don’t use boiling water…?

This is one of my favourite teas. It is a light tea, when not steeped to strong, and if it is steeped too strong, it is very good with a fruit juice as a sweetener (I prefer white grape).

Very mild tasting, with a flowery scent that I can’t identify. I’m not a fan of white tea, but this one is good. Not really “plum” tasting, although I can’t think of what hot liquid plum would taste like. Ume, Japanese plum paste, has a really strong taste. Salted preserved plums have a really strong taste too. Fresh plums are my favorite fruit, but this tea doesn’t taste like fresh plums either.
It’s still good, mild, and almost relaxing.
