From Yunnan Sourcing

These little white buds come from wild-growing Camellia Assamica Dehongensis varietal. It is a sub-varietal of camellia that grows in the tropical area of Dehong and Lincang in southwestern Yunnan. The buds are picked in early February and then sun-dried. The flavor is fresh and a little fruity somewhat similiar to a good white tea but more complex flavors. The brewed liquor is whitish and clear, and there is a hint of fresh pine needles in the aroma!

This is a very interesting, but very delicate, white tea. I’ve never had dried buds before, but I appreciate white teas for their unique flavour.

A tiny bit fruity or floral, a bit musty, and a bit like the smell of pussy willow blossoms. Maybe I’m just reminded of the shape, but it kinda seems vegetal, but not in a grassy/vegetation way. I’d say more of a new plant bud kind of way. It tastes like how it looks is what I mean. It is obviously from a plant, but but stemy/green at all.

This is a very interesting white tea.

I picked this one up because my son and I have been enjoying white tea together, and it was inexpensive and a bit unusual.

I was not let down. What I got was a very light colored tea, with a slightly sweet vegetal flavor.

There are many variations of these sundried buds sold by Yunnan Sourcing. This is the second I’ve tasted and it is a very good quality leaf with a flavor profile that is more pronounced and complex than regular white tea buds. This time the buds were a bit smaller than the spring 2015 I had previously stated, but did not notice much difference in taste.

The price is also great, you can easily pay 3 to 4 times the price that Yunnan Sourcing charges if you try to buy this tea at a local tea shop.
