Having had one style of Genmai Cha inspired me to have another of a different brand and style tea bag. This tea box have individually sealed bag and is instructed to steep tea for 1 – 3 minutes.

I take fully boiled water and place my teabag in the cup and add the water and leave for a three minutes steep time.

I know that shorter steeps make for a stronger tea, yet I always prefer for tea to be cooked long as possible. Tea aroma is a roasted and nutty scent.
Tea’s color is brownish and kind of runny like. It is not clear, but not milky either. That is why I am using the term runny; like adding water into a cup that once held milk in it.

Upon tasting the tea, it is grainy in texture and steamy. Tasting like a cup of rice soup and leaving one feeling full.

Overall, these Genmai Cha teas are grainy in texture with a roasted nuttier side to it and makes for a very refreshing cup of tea.

Its quite warm in my part of the world. I can go without tights, and abandon my coat at lunchtime, and all is well. Bleh, I say. Bring me the cold weather instantly.
But still, its usually freezing in my office, and so I brought a sample of toasty genmai chai with me today.
This is a pleasant, but somewhat weak blend. Its very light, but the toasty notes ar at the forefront of each sip, and the greenness of the tea never gets vegetal.
I’m glad to have tried it.

This tea is interesting.. I bought it on a whim at an asian market today and I’m glad I’ve tried it. I’m not sure I’ll drink it again. It’s a very savory tea. When it steeps it smells exactly like roasted rice and it tastes like it too. I don’t get a lot of green tea flavors out of it.

Back when I drank primarily tea bags, this was one of my favorites. I haven’t had it in forever though, so who knows if I would still like it.

I am new to tea tasting and the tea life. I tasted Genmai Cha Green tea with roasted brown rice and found the first tea worth giving and writing about in my life. I was curious to see how the rice would come across in the brew. Steep just under 3 minutes to get more ricey blend.
