From Westholme Tea Company

The words “Mao Feng” are used to describe a higher quality of tea. It translates to “Fur Peak,” and refers to a specific pluck, which consists of a single young leaf and soft bud. A dark, sweet aroma of brown sugar precedes this mildly astringent steep, which pinches gently and fades. Builds to a lovely full-flavoured cup with hints of roasted peach. Lingering notes of pipe tobacco and cinnamon remain on the tongue. A very accessible pure tea.

Tasting notes: The cup begins with a smoky and sweet aroma. Notes of ripe peach lead to a lovely full flavour of dark cinnamon on the palate. The tea finishes with a gentle astringency.

When I was in Montreal I tried both smoked and spiced maple syrup and they were delicious. The spiced was packaged better for travel to bring it home so I got a jar. Today, I had woken up early as a friend swung by on her way to New York to ask me to a bridesmaid. Since I was awake, we decided to make French toast topped with bananas and whipped cream to go with the spiced maple syrup. It was sooo good and made even better by this tea, which Sil kindly gave me. Thank you!

This tea is mild and smooth. Slight smoke. Syrupy but with a darker depth as opposed to a caramel or honey sweetness.

yes! This is a tea that reminds me of the keemuns i had when i first started drinking tea. That sort of smokey but not, malty, deep, rich deliciousness.

Day 4 – “Mao Feng”, meaning fur peak, is a high quality Chinese black tea. The flavour is perfect for my taste buds; rich and smooth with smoked, toasted notes combined with hints of stone fruit.
