I always enjoy this one. Sweet and creamy, with the heady richness that I typically associate with maple syrup. An excellent mid-afternoon pick-me-up!

Sipdown (132/139)!

Ooh, progress! I love watching my cupboard numbers go down…

But yeah; this one wasn’t so impressive. Maple? Ehh, a little. But it was pretty astringent/bitter and there was this weird sorta sour but also sweet flavour that definitely was not maple and I can’t place it. It’s not that whatever that weird flavour was tasted all that offensive or gross, it just didn’t mesh with everything else and it left me feeling really distracted through the whole mug.

Oh well, thank you VariaTEA for the sample even if it wasn’t super awesome. I’m happy to have tried it anyway.

Happy Canada Day! In honor of this birthday, I am starting my day off with the most Canadian tea I own and at the moment, it’s Canadian Maple Syrup. Alas, I find myself wishing this tasted more like Canadian Maple Seduction because this just pales in comparison. Mostly it just tastes like a mediocre black tea. I added a touch of milk which brought out some maple flavor but typically I am not lover of having to add something to teas to bring out flavors.

Thanks for sharing this one variaTEA i’m going to have to side with cavo on this one. – there’s something weird going on. I can see why they refer to it having caramel notes…but the base is slightly overpowering and distracts me from things. it also doesn’t taste like maple syrup. it’s more caramel syrup than anything…oh well, good to try. :)

I really should try this one out however each new review is making me that much more hesitant to do so.

Well, when my sister returned with 100g bags, I figured I had enough to share with everyone.

Thanks VariaTEA! (244)
I’ve never heard of this company but I was interested in NEW TEAS! Thanks for sending so many of them.

Huh. I’m not sure if its the base, or if it’s just the flavours, but there is something odd with this one. I’m not sure I’m big on it but… and don’t hate me, I’m not the biggest bestest fan of maple teas. So maybe that’s it. :P

Haha don’t worry about it. I shared all the Victoria teas since it was a new company to me and thought it would be interesting to see others thoughts. I haven’t even tried this yet so I am sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy it.

GASP! How can you call yourself Canadian if you don’t like maple (teas)?! ;)

VariaTEA 11 years ago

Hahaha I made the mistake of telling the Americans in my residence that my family uses Aunt Jemima syrup instead of real maple syrup and they were all really disturbed at how uncanadian that was.

I grew up with golden syrup or home made fruit sauce on my pancakes. I love pancake syrup, but maple is only for tea. And whipped cream.

TeaLady441 11 years ago

I don’t think I’ve had maple syrup that often? Aside from maple fudge? We grew up with Aunt Jemima.

Sil 11 years ago

omg – gross… gross gross…

and cavo – yeah seems like maple syrup is an ontario thing moreso because it’s cheaper out here… i’ve fully embraced it and used to HATE it… go go aunt jemima :)

At least it’s not as bad as my gramma’s “butter” being a tin of oil with a brush in it. :)
