From Verdant Tea

This is the Liu family’s baseline, traditional Tieguanyin, packed with roasted grain aromatics, including graham cracker and barley. A crisp, fruity pineapple skin or green apple edge fill out the high notes, while sweeter honey and floral marigold give this tea a more luscious finish.

2021 Sipdown 77/365!

Apparently haven’t written a note for this before, but I remember it being toasty/nutty and quite tasty. One of the better traditional TGY’s I’ve had; I generally like them but don’t always love them, but this was a favourite.

This was from one of the sub boxes, waaay back.

1 packet (4g) to 300mL water @90C, steeped three minutes twenty seconds.

Dry leaf: darkest green and tight-rolled.Complex aroma: barley, florals, grass, apple.

First infusion. Wet leaf is dark green Some leaves are open; others are still tightly rolled. Pale yellow liquor. Notes of barley, pineapple (?), florals, honey, and something cooling … I want to say camphor, but I;m not sure if that’s right. A balanced and, to me, slightly starting tieguanyin. Lots going on here. I love it.
