From Verdant Tea (Special)

Seductive #2 is the second in our line of premium scented teas.

Our partnership with Minneapolis-based Intelligent Nutrients comes from the shared philosophy that what you put in your body should be sourced with integrity and made with care. They grow many of their botanicals on their farm in Osceola, Wisconsin, where they have their own still for making essential oils. Like us, they seek to challenge industry standards to promote a healthier and higher quality lifestyle.

We are excited to work together to offer the truly premium scented tea. The finest perfumers and the best tea farmers come together to create something new, thrilling and – of course – wholesome.

Intelligent Nutrients’ Seductive #2 is warm, sweet and sensuous, blended with certified organic aphrodisiac botanicals including nutmeg, clove, vanilla and blackberry. The perfumers at Intelligent Nutrients cite Cleopatra as inspiration, so we thought we would complement with Cleopatra’s favorite aphrodisiac of them all – jasmine. Our Yunnan White Jasmine is made with tender tea buds traditionally and naturally scented with wild Yunnan jasmine flowers over a seven day labor intensive process. A touch of jasmine blossoms and rose petals round this out for a go-to tea as seductive as it sounds.

Ingredients: Yunnan White Jasmine, Jasmine Blossoms, Rose Petals, Intelligent Nutrients Seductive #2 (castor seed, vanilla, nutmeg, clove, orange peel, blackberry, coconut, mango, pineapple, vitamin e)

Western Brewing

Use 4g of tea ( 1T ) in 6-8oz of fresh-boiled (205°F) filtered or spring water. Steep for 30 seconds in a brew basket or equivalent. Enjoy many infusions. Add about 20 seconds with each steeping, or to taste.

Iced Tea (Cold Brewing)

Use about 4 grams of tea for every 12oz of water. Combine with room temperature water in a covered vessel and refrigerate for 8-12 hours. Enjoy!

Iced Tea (Flash Chilled)

Use 1TB (5 grams) of tea in a 6-8oz vessel. Steep for 30 seconds with filtered boiled water. Fill a martini shaker (or equivalent) with ice, then add brewed tea and shake until well-chilled (usually 10-30 seconds). Pour out through martini-shaker top over fresh ice in a new glass and serve.

This is basically really aromatic flower water. There isn’t much flavor and any flavor is coming from the scent rather than the taste, I think.

I did some browsing on Reddit earlier and found a post titled

I can’t taste white tea. Is there something wrong with me?

and had to check to be sure I didn’t write it. just kidding. sort of.

There were several responses and more than a few mentioned ignoring the steeping parameters given by the tea company and using boiling (or near boiling) water instead of water at a cooler temperature. At this point, I’m willing to try anything to taste my white teas. I’ll be scorching the next one. If that doesn’t work, we’ll just be cold brewing and calling it my water consumption for the day.

I could’ve written that Reddit post, too!

DrowningMySorrows

I’ve always enjoyed white tea but an ex-boyfriend used to complain that it was awful because it didn’t taste like anything. I thought it was just that he liked to complain about absolutely everything I liked but maybe he really couldn’t taste it.

Shae

I’m glad it’s not just me! I feel like I should have figured this out by now.

Sakura Sushi

Same same. I’ve basically just given up on white teas in general.

This tea is an explosion of flowers in your mouth… but that’s pretty much all. The ingredients list had me very excited to taste a tea that promised to be a complex collaboration of interesting flavors , but unfortunately all I can taste is floral flowers. Soooo much floweriness. Florals completely coat my mouth. Did I mention the flowers are very floral??

I first brewed this at 3g/6oz/190F for 1min, then at 4g/7oz/205F for 30sec and 1min. The 205F, 30sec brew was somewhat weak, and all of the 1min brews were a mouthful of flowers. I wish I had enough of this tea to experiment with steep times, temps, and water/leaf ratios etc, perhaps a gongfu sesh. I’d love to taste all of the ingredients in this tea, but for now I can only recommend it to people who are in love with jasmine and florals.
