I don’t normally go for flavored teas but this was an exception that I hope to revisit next winter.

As others have indicated, its sort of like a chai with the cardamom and the cinnamon, but with the addition of a dusting of chocolate, this is really delightful and you don’t have to mix it up with milk to be be yummmy.

I can’t divine what sort of tea is used for the base, clearly something inexpensive as whatever tea is used is going to be overwhelmed by the additional spices. You can steep this one forever and it just keeps getting better and better. I got busy and forgot about it in for more than 10- minutes- it was still very good. Great for kids too.

Will buy again certainly!

I like this tea… It would be good for kids.

Yeh, totally- with a splash of milk it would be great for children to get them interested in tea.

I was craving a chai tonight but it’s late and I decided I wanted something mellower. So I went for my sample of this, hoping the chocolate might smooth it out and make it a good compromise.

Indeed it does. I agree that this is more a spice tea than a chai, but I really don’t mind. The cinnamon is at the forefront here, with the chocolate hanging a bit behind but really enhancing the flavour. I like it quite a lot, and it is reminding me of the delicious Super Chocolate from DavidsTea.

This one just reminded me of another chocolate chai I had in my stash a while ago. Both are good, but spice teas are actually not my usual choice. The cost of the two is pretty close, so not even a noticeable savings to report. One difference is that the spice level is a bit more subtle in this tea, which is actually a bonus for me. Note to self: If you ever get a craving for chocolate chai, buy this one!

I brewed this with boiling water for 3 minutes and then cooled it in the refrigerator. This is a very softly spiced black tea with no astringency or bitterness. It is really smooth. I taste cardamom. I’m not sure I would have picked out the cinnamon if I didn’t know it was there. The chocolate makes the whole tea meld together and taste super smooth without actually tasting very much like chocolate. It’s more of a suggestion of chocolate, a lingering in the aftertaste. The taste reminds of baked goods. It is quite yummy!

I am starting to think that absence makes the heart grow fonder! I finished off my sample tonight. I don’t love the sample bags Upton uses – they don’t close, and besides they have folds in the bottom that tend to hold the larger pieces of the tea. This cup was much better than the last two, which I can only attribute to a noticeable amount of cardamom which had been stuck to the bottom. I also finally tasted the lovely soft chocolate note. It’s still a bit light for my taste, but I can see where the nice reviews come from now. I love cardamom… I must find more teas with that note. And now I know – I’m putting all my upton samples in little tins!

Nice mellow tea with hints of cinnamon flavor and an aroma that includes cardamon (slightly chai-like). Not too terribly sharply flavored (I brewed my small pot on the high end of the recommended steeping time), but has nice subtle flavor for those who don’t like powerfully strongly flavored tea.

I like this tea. I would describe it as a mellow chai, not lots of cinnamon and not lots of cardamon flavor but really nice. I only purchased a sample of this but I think I would be willing to purchase a tin.

This is still not my “perfect chocolate” tea – maybe Florence will be the one?

Love this tea for winter! Well-balanced chocolate and spice notes. I received this as part of a holiday sampler from Upton Tea Imports but will definitely reorder.

I received a sample of this in a swap from bluebelle. Thank you!

I made this tea similar to how I would make a chai. It has a very distinct cardamon flavor with hints of chocolate. This was enjoyable, but given the choice between this and a favorite chai, I will probably always choose the chai. Thank you for allowing me to try this!

Another one to try from MissB! thanks so much! I was confused as to which tea this was, since there are two from Upton that have the same name but different ingredients. I guess it’s this one? I don’t see roses but this also doesn’t taste like chocolate. I don’t think this one can decide whether it wants to be a chai or a black tea. There are spices here, but not many. (One big green cardamom floating in the infuser looks a little weird.) There is plenty of sweet cinnamon though. It’s like it’s trying to be spicy, but not really. I like the black tea flavor itself, there just wasn’t much of it. Not outstanding, but I enjoyed the cup anyway.
