Part of my package from a across the pond from Maisonlula I was interested to try this because I’ve never seen the limited editions in the states. “by appointment to her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II” I don’t know if I have ever noticed that before…because it’s not on Twinings teabags in the states. Not a bad blend there is a unique flavor but also a familiar one….barbasol. Dude it’s like black tea that tastes like shaving cream smells. However it’s not gross. Who would of thought the smell of shaving cream is citrus and lavender….by jove I solved a mystery

The lavender twist is pleasant but almost non-existant after the first initial cup. When I drink tea with a floral hint, I want the hint to be present.
Perhaps I’m being unfair. It may be that I’ve been wooed by the Johnny-Come-Lately that is the Empress Grey and that would be fair.

Taste was pleasant on the other side, it was nice and mild, with floral notes of lavender and citrus, pleasant sourness. Base tea was present and nice too.
I am bit puzzled how to rate it. Taste was pleasant, but that aroma wasn’t great. Hmm… Fresh it would be much better I bet.
On the other news; my grandma had a stroke yesterday evening, so I am not really in mood even making tea. Luckily, it was just some minor and with “ups and downs”, so it was partially free, not blocked completely. Oh boy, and she was okay few hours earlier. But because of COVID, we can’t even visit her. I feel sad.

Your grandma got lucky if that’s all she experienced! Hope you’re able to visit her soon, or at least video call.

Thank you guys, I really appreciate it! She was doing better today, as I have notice my mum (her daughter) calling her. She knew exactly what she needs and missing in the hospital, so we could deliver it today. Unfortunately, as I said, I could not see her, I was stopped at the gatehouse.

The lavender and EG really did not mix well for me, or I brewed it too strongly haha. Whatever it was, not my cup of tea! Ah well, it’s gone now! No rating in case it was just me brewing it too long (I don’t really pay attention to brew time at work haha).
Might this be the one that turns me into an Earl Grey convert? I’ve had bad luck with earl grey, I always find the bergamot to be unpleasant and overwhelming, and I have to force myself to finish it. While the bergamot is definitely present in this tea, it’s balanced with the black tea and lavender, you can sense all of the flavors, and it’s utterly delicious. The lavender obviously smooths out the bergamot and is clearly the perfect compliment to it. I’d never thought I’d crave an earl grey tea, but I find myself looking forward to being able to make a cup of this.
