From thepuriTea

This unusual black tea is hand-rolled into spheres the size of chickpeas in southern Yunnan, China. Just two or three of them are enough for a fantastically bold brew with all the flavors of a crisp autumn day. It’s malty, nuanced and tannic like a fine Second Flush Assam black tea, but it also offers complex flavors of spiced, stewed apples, fallen leaves and cocoa that set it apart from other black teas. Floral aromas and a clean, bittersweetRead more

Vendor description says: Try it with breakfast, brunch, grilled duck or dark chocolate. Something about grilled duck makes me chuckle, especially since we have two little white neighbor ducks across the street.

After two good strong steeps of these cute little yarn balls, I’m at a loss to pin the flavor down. The inner chocolate addict notices the cocoa first; maybe some of the baked apple vibe when I frown and really concentrate. A very good “think about” tea for a deliciously foggy Sunday morning. Thinking of you, Terriharplady, with a smile as I drink it. Thanks.

I received this in a swap with Shelley_Lorraine. It didn’t have any brewing instructions so I dropped about 5 little pearls in the basket and hoped for the best! I assumed this tea would have a similar flavor to other black pearl teas I’ve had (dark, chocolatey, malty). But this doesn’t have any dark chocolate notes, maybe a little milk chocolate as it cools. Its a pretty decent tea, but I like other black pearls better.

I didn’t like this one so much either. My father does though, so I gave him the rest of what I had. Sorry there were no instructions. They didn’t come with any and all I can find on the website is general black tea instructions.

Oh no worries at all! I looked on the website too and couldn’t find any either. The other 14 teas you sent had perfect instructions so I knew you weren’t holding out on me :-)

Got this on sale thought it would be malty but not that much, maybe my brewing technique. Tried 3 balls in giwan then tried 8 much better not great.
Tried this with 8 balls in 8oz mug boiling water 3 min getting better not great. Balls open up to pieces, stems and some whole leaf probably not hand picked like some other less expensive black teas Ive had.
OK 10 balls 8oz boiling water for 5 min much better slight malty. Probably wouldn’t buy this one again but I’m enjoying it better.
