From The Steeping Room

Eight Treasures Herbal Tea (Ba Bao Cha) is a clean and balanced non-caffeinated herbal blend featuring freshly sourced longan fruit, tangerine peel, snow chrysanthemum, Chinese licorice, bamboo leaves, jujube (red date), goji berries, ginseng, and hawthorn berries. The taste is refreshing and gently invigorating, with an herbal/firewood initial aroma quickly followed by a naturally sweet and citrus liquor.

Eight Treasures type herbal blends vary from maker to maker and region to region, but they generally consist of herbal combinations meant to support wellness and internal balance in a very gentle, easy to drink manner.

Eight Treasures comes in individual packets – approximately 8 grams of herbs per packet – making it easy to portion out the ideal proportion of herbs per steeping vessel.

The tea is very easy to prepare. You can of course make it western tea pot style using water at a boil for five minutes. You can also go in a more casual direction and pour the packet’s contents in a large-ish mug and pour water at a boil over the herbs. When it’s cool enough to drink, just drink the tea as is – no need to separate the herbs from the mug. You can keep refilling your mug with hot water as desired.

Ingredients: longan fruit, tangerine peel, snow chrysanthemum, Chinese licorice, bamboo leaves, jujube (red date), ginseng, hawthorn berries, and goji berries

The mix of ingredients looks balanced is a pleasure to see in the glass pot. It tastes clean, fresh, gentle and just sweet enough; feels supportive and healthy. The brew is rather body warming but cooling to the lungs. Would gladly keep this in my cupboard.
