Unbridled Love Fruit Tea

Well my unbridled love for this tea continues. I made this as a cold brew yesterday. Todays cup is extra tart. Not sure why. Maybe because its from the bottom of the pitcher. Still the closest to a blood orange flavoured tea/tisane I have found. Anyway, I am cold brewing what I have left of this overnight. I am going to miss it when its gone. I shouldn’t be too sad about it though, I am pretty darn sure I will be getting more of it!

Well, this tea is tarter than I remember it being. But I may have let it steep too long (suggested is 8 minutes). I got a little sidetracked with excitement over scoring a Dray Dream Coat from Enlightened Platypus over on Etsy! Long story short I’ve been wanting one of her coats for ages and I finally managed to find mine!

Anyway…this time around the orange is really the flavor frontrunner tonight. I get hints of the apple and black currants, but orange def. dominates. Yikes…so much for a nice soothing cuppa before bed. However, I think I’ll still sleep pretty well. :)

This was just a little sample with my last order, but I requested it because I thought it would make a nice iced tea – and it did. The baby and I have been sipping away at it all day. I get a lot of the orange, but there are bits of apples and other fruits hiding away in the back. I can’t remember how much this one costs, but I could see this one being an easy one to drink down in the summer. It’s just a touch tart, but not unpleasantly so.

My work for today is done, I managed to get everything made and sent out which is a miracle and deserves a reward. That’s why I got my husband to cook dinner (for once lol). I prepared it all but told him how to cook it and made it easy so it was like he served me a very nice meal that he made himself. :)

Then I thought I would make myself pro active during the wait for dinner and have a quick clean up of my tea cupboard. I have a new spare tub for my Unbridled Love Fruit Tea which should help me remember it’s their and drink it more often. Which is then when I remembered I haven’t reviewed this tea despite having had it for almost a year.

The raw blends ingredients are rather large and if I’m honest they are duller than shown in the picture. It has a sweet yet sour fruity scent of orange but darker than expected. Perhaps the darkness is from the raisins. In a way it reminds me of a few Christmas based teas I sampled not so long ago.

Once steeped this tea is dark red/purple in colour and has a herbal and fruity aroma. It also smells a little tart and sour.

Flavour is strong and very tart but also with a light sweet and fruity taste. The orange is the most noticeable fruit but the rose hip dominates above all else. The flavours lighten quickly to leave a gentle sour and fruity after taste.

Overall it’s quite nice but perhaps a little too sour for my taste. It has to be something that I crave before I can drink it. A bit of sweetener can help.

I have a one word (okay, two) overall description of this tea: Blood. Orange.

Fortunately for me, I love blood orange. Love it. :-)

Smell: This tea has a pleasant mix of fruits, and I could smell the sweet apple, kind of tart currants, and the orange. The hibiscus (roselle) was in it again, and again I was pleased rather than disappointed. Steeping I could really smell the orange. That made me happy. :-)

Taste: Blood orange, definitely, and it’s reminding me how much I love that taste. It’s tart, but not overly tart, and has a nice citrus twang to it. The apple provides a mellow sweetness, and the hibiscus adds to the tart but doesn’t overpower. And again, there is orange and when you tell me I am going to be tasting orange I expect it to be there, so this tea REALLY delivers for me.

I don’t have anymore to add, really, except that I put a spoonful or so of some sugar in, to add to the sweetness, and I think this tea, just like the Blueberry Fruit tea, will be great cold as well. :-) A perfect summertime tea!

Update: I just wanted to confirm that this tastes amazing cold.

I used the recommended amount of 4 tsp and it was a little strong. I think that brewing a shorter time might not make it quite as tart either with all that roselle.

I find that orange and apple are the most prominent with currant in the background. A little too tart. A tsp of sugar helps it out a bit.

I think I will stick with the blueberry fruit tea, I enjoy it much better.

Oh, wow, this is the most powerfully orange-flavored tea I’ve ever had.

The tea smells strongly of citrus, with a hint of dried apple and currants. It smells incredibly fruity and sharp, almost medicinal. (I mean that in a good way.) But mostly, it’s just orange. I gave it about eight minutes to steep with 6 teaspoons for 16 ounces of tea. The tea even looks orange, like a deep reddish orange.

The flavor is tart and citrusy, but not just like the citrus fruit itself. You can taste the bitterness of the peel beneath it. Like the kind one would taste in orange spice teas. The currants add another layer of sourness, but in the finish, the apple pieces mellow it out. They add a pleasant sweetness. Anyway, this is like an orange juice fruit medley. I’m not a huge fan of orange or orange juice, but I think the people that are would love this.

Much more tart than the other blood orange-type herbal I had! But I am liking it.

This one had a lot more bite than I was expecting (the smell from the dry tea I had wasn’t terribly strong), but as I’m a fan of oranges and citrus flavor, I do enjoy it. I tried it hot + unsweetened, hot + sweetened and then iced + sweetened. I think in the end, I prefer it much more as a tangy hot drink than a sweeter iced one. The sharp taste was almost comforting when warm.

Tart and fruity. My first fruit infusion and i like it. some black tea mixed in would be nice thou.

Thanks Angel of Teavivre for nice sample of Unbridled Love Fruit Tea on a winter morning I made this using 1/2 sample packet steeped in hot water 8 minutes. It is a very fruity slightly tart tea and on a cold morning this warms you up. The fruits are well blended in sample so even flavors. As I am sipping the tea I am cooking some apples and I will add a tbsp of this teacup to the apples for a flavor accent.The other half sample I will steep cold for a refreshing drink as I am cooking chinese food this evening. Once again thanks for sample was a lovely fruit tea.
