Tarocco Ruby Orange

sipdown! though this is really two tasting notes in one. I brewed this cold the other night and had it along side with a hot brew of this today. Overall i prefer this cold brewed as it helps to ease the tartness of this tea. not bad, but not great. Thanks terri for letting me try this one!

There’s a big floral presence in this tea, according to the list of ingredients, but when I smell the dry leaves, I mostly get orange peel. And yes, it’s specifically the peel: that very slightly acrid tinge to the strongly citrus fragrance.

The flavour is tart, but not too sour. It tastes mostly orangey, but as the tea cools, the flowers definitely make themselves known. It’s nice as a hot beverage, especially if you’re not feeling all that great, but I think it’d be even nicer iced.

I’m not crazy about this tea, but it’s nice to have around…y’know?

This one was from Amanda and the traveling tea box… this may take me some time to get use to as i am not use to the Citrus in my tea… I can think of meany others i would want to sweeten my pallet this is not one for me But we will see how the hubby likes it he loves lemon in his tea and he may enjoy this one

I’m a little scared of this one – it smells medicinal. Not in that cough syrup way but in a kind of dental novocaine/disinfectant kind of way.
I actually like the way this tastes. The scent remains but this has a nice hibiscus flavor. I am one of those people who really likes hibiscus.
I have to take points off for the scent though because that is seriously off putting. I don’t like feeling like I’m drinking poison, ya know? The flavor is nice and I’m getting tired and ready to go to sleep, so not a loss at all.

This is actually pretty good! It does have a TON of hibiscus in it, so I added a little tiny bit of sugar to help ease of the tartness. It is still pretty tart, but it’s enjoyable! The blood orange really compliments the other ingredients and the result ends up being a pretty fruity blend that is purely delicious!

It would figure that when I come to love this, it gets discontinued. I have like 12 ounces of it in a tin now so I’m not too worried.

I have no idea why I love this because generally I hate hibiscus.

This is really like a hibiscus tea with citrus. And yet I love it. Probably because hibiscus just seems to be well complimented by blood orange, and I love blood orange. I’ve had other blood orange herbals and there’s something about this that just isn’t overly tart, although you’d think it would be (other reviewers mention it). It’s tart and sweet, but it’s not overwhelmingly tart for me.

It just makes me laugh because there are Teavana teas I hate for the hibiscus, and yet in one where it’s so dominant, I love it.

I’m in the mood for some iced tea, and it’s getting late in the day, so I’m going with this herbal blend (which admittedly has been in my cupboard for awhile…not years, mind you, but maybe since spring, or maybe longer…). I’m not a huge fan of citrus or rooibos, but I need to use this up, so I will. I do sometimes like fruity teas over ice.
Dry, the tea smells of dusty fruit loops, and cardamon, & it burns my nose a bit.

My brewing method: 4T in a 1 QT Mason jar. Add about 1/3 jar hot water, let it sit a bit, then fill with ice cubes. (I know this isn’t the classy way to do things, but it works well for a quick cup of iced tea). Strain into my ice cube filled starbucks insulated iced bev cup. Refill the jar with more ice & water & put it in the frig for later. Unsweetened its ok, but in my opinion most fruity teas need some sweetening to bring out the flavors, so I add a little stevia, & the flavors pop! Very Fruit loopey (admittedly, it’s been decades since I had fruit loops, so I really don’t know what they taste like). It’s sweet & fruity, very bright, very ‘juicy’ & lively, with citrus, cardamon, apple, & the rooibus is not too obvious. It’s ok, & it will help to brighten up my afternoon (without adding more caffeine).

This is very sour. There is a lot of hibiscus in this and as it cools its getting quite bitter and even more sour. I don’t like this hot so I’ll try it iced. But for the moment, this is not something I’d drink out of choice. My friend used to drink hibiscus without any other flavours – this kinda reminds me of that stuff.

I love this! Very juicy, somewhat tart (but not too tart). This is great for when I am craving fruit juice. If you don’t like hibiscus, stay far away from this blend. Prepared with stevia.

So I’ve been doing a lot of sour apple in the evenings and I decided to switch it up a bit.

I like this one, but not as much as the sour apple… this is a citrusy hibiscus. It’s good, but I probably won’t buy it again since I like the sour apple much better.
