From Teavana

Small-batch techniques create a standout oolong tea. Grown high in the Nantou mountains of Taiwan, this world-renowned oolong tea is hand-plucked from the first new growth in early spring. It takes a full 24 hours to produce a 2 lb bag of tea, as each bud and leaf is carefully oxidized, rolled and fired in small batches. Sweet floral with notes of magnolia flower and a cream finish.

Not a completely bad tea but definitely not one of my favorite teas. Something about the taste just does not remind me of other oolongs. The flavors from other oolong teas that I like are not found in this tea. This tea leaves an almost dry taste in my mouth.

I was sure I’d reviewed this before but it’s not showing up if I did. I’ve only gotten probably two good cups out of my large quantity of this that I started with. This particular cup was not a good one but a better overall representation of this tea. It’s vegetal and not in a good way. It also is somewhat metallic tasting and tastes a bit like mud. The more pleasant cup I’ve had of this had some lovely creamed corn notes and greens.

Sounds like you’re forcing your way through the bag :/

Oof. Sounds bad. We have a Tung Ting from Tin Roof Teas that we love, mainly with breakfast. It may be sourced from Teageschwendner.

It was a gift from a family member but I’m definitely trying to finish it off. It’s mostly stems compared to leaves and I wonder if that’s part of the issue. Red Blossom has a lovely Tung Ting Tea from what I recall.

Sad to hear – I find that once teas taste metallic, that’s kind of the end of their life. I really dislike that flavour. Tung ting should be so creamy and delicious (in my recollection)!

A delicious and smooth oolong tea with a mildly sweet body and a slightly salty top note. I find when brewed stronger, the finish takes on a bit of a creamy feeling. I find the vegetal notes much milder and smoother than many green oolongs I’ve tried, and the brew is not overly astringent.

i normally love oolong tea, but this one I did not particularly enjoy.
It tasted extremely vegetal, like the way the water in a can of creamed corn smells.
I also made some iced, and it moderately tasted better iced in my opinion, it made the tea taste more fresh and green and less like corn water.

I’ve noticed that when the leaves unfurl, there are long stalks attached to them. I don’t know if this makes a difference in the quality or taste. Anyway, I give up. That’s $20 wasted.
