S'mores Oolong Tea

Got this in a tea swap.

I’m actually torn on this one… If I’m comparing it to Teaopia’s S’mores than I don’t like it. It’s very thick feeling when drinking. Teaopia’s isn’t that way.

But, if I’m just looking at it as a separate tea all on its own, which is what I should be doing anyways, then it’s not too bad. Like I said, it’s very thick or full in the mouth. I found I needed to add some milk and a few pebbles of rock sugar to it to make the flavours smoother and more enjoyable. But all things considered, I really like this one. I get the cinnamon or the nutmeg out of it. I’m getting the chocolate and the smoothness that I’m assuming is partly the marshmallows. I’m not sure if I’m getting any graham cracker or not, but either way it’s still very good. I’m liking it more and more as it cools and as I accept the fact that it’s not Teaopia’s S’mores. It’s a s’mores tea all of its own. It’s not my favourite tea in the world, but it’s very good.

A Teavana tea that I actually like!

This tea tastes like it was sitting beside a campfire. If you didn’t read the title you may think it’s like watered down chai tea. Tastes pretty dessert like, more than expected. I like this tea but a special occasion type tea.

I purchased this tea on sale – 50% off and it was a good purchase at that price. This tea tasted nice to me. I get a graham like taste mixed with vanilla. The chocolate comes to me in an aftertaste. It is sweet and rich tasting. I was pleasantly pleased as I didn’t think I would like it as much as I did. It will be a tea that I go to occasionally, but not an everyday tea.

Nope.

I don’t know exactly what my problem is with this, but absolutely no.

Full disclosure… I’m not particularly fond of s’mores as they are normally served (I always made mine with a reese’s cup instead of hershey’s and a cinnamon graham cracker instead of plain). But, this doesn’t even taste like s’mores to me! So….I don’t think that’s it. The taste was just weird, especially considering that it smelled pretty promising. I don’t think I screwed up the steeping either. I just didn’t like this at all. I nursed it for about an hour and only got maybe 4 sips down before deciding I shouldn’t have to drink tea I don’t like.

I was pretty curious about this one since a S’mores tea sounds amazing. Della Terra Teas tried it, but it ended up more like a plain chocolate tea with decorative marshmallows but that’s it. Didn’t really give justice to S’mores.
So I was hoping this one might be a bit better.
But no.
I was wrong. It’s not much better at all.
When I opened the bag it smelled strongly of chocolate chai. And S’mores shouldn’t taste like chai. That was the first bad sign.
When I actually brewed it up and tried it, the tea was a lot less powerful than the smell. It tasted as it smelled, but a lot less strong. There was a certain sweetness to it that I can’t quite pick out. But it just made for an odd tea.
Definitely another fail of a S’mores tea. Someone seriously needs to make another S’mores tea, and do justice to it!
It wouldn’t be awful if they had just named it “Chocolate Chai”. But under the name “S’mores Oolong” it’s just bad.
Change the name though, and it would have been a better tea.
One of these days someone has gotta step up and do justice to S’mores. It’s about time!

Got this as a tea to go yesterday. I’d seen it on Teavana’s site and been curious about it — s’mores seems like a flavor several tea companies have tried their hand at and this one was the most accessible for me to try out.

I’m not sure if it was the sample of the pumpkin brulee tea I had prior to drinking this or if it’s Teavana’s oolong base but … this tasted like pumpkin to me. Not pumpkin pie pumpkin, though, Teavana’s pumpkin tea pumpkin. About halfway through the cup, the pumpkin faded and this tea seemed sweet in an artificial way (I want to say cloying but that’s not right…) and I really didn’t enjoy it. It’s definitely not s’mores and it’s utterly forgettable.
