YUM!

I was in Teavana today, and I decided to order a cup to go because I’ve been contemplating adding this tea to my collection, and what do you know…it was DELICIOUS and I’m surely going back for more.

The only concern I have is, since Teavana made it, I feel like they did their ~magic and it’s going to end up not as good as they made it when I take it home. I’m hoping that isn’t the case, because I loved it!

This tastes great; the chocolate is there but it isn’t too overwhelming, but it’s present enough that it will satisfy your sweet tooth after dinner. I noticed the coconut although I didn’t notice the rose. I’ve never tried oolong tea but I thought it was divine, and apparently it can help aid in digestion, which is nice. The chocolate flavoring didn’t overwhelm the tea and it almost tasted like a lighter version of hot chocolate (but yummy!).

I asked for medium sweetening, and I believe they sweetened it with German rock sugar which really brought out the flavors. I’m not sure if it would taste as good without any flavoring, but I do think a little milk would make it creamier and it MIGHT make for a good latte. But I never make lattes, so what do I know? Lol.

Anyway, I’m going to go pick this up next time I’m around the mall and hope that it doesn’t let me down at home!

The name for this one gets your hopes up that its going to be this decadent, delicious foody tea. Even if you get past the name, this is the most disappointing tea I’ve drank thus far. It’s thin, weak, and flat. I added 2-3 times the recommended amount of tea to the water and still got almost no flavor. It’s weakly flavored coconut water, and nothing more. It doesn’t taste like tea, chocolate, or anything else. Just wishy washy coconut. Very disappointing, but happily I’ve found other fabulous teas to satisfy my chocolate sweet tooth.

On the second steep of this. Definitely much lighter flavor, almost no chocolate flavor noticeable this time. Not so much love on seconds but still drinkable.

Excellent tea. Chocolatey with a very roasted flavor. I normally don’t like ginger in teas, but I can’t really taste it unless I steep for over 3 minutes. Unfortunately it loses most of its magic after the first steeping. The second steep was rather weak and not very chocolatey, but still retained the roasted flavor. Prepared with milk and stevia.

I love oolong, chocolate, and coconut, so this tea is naturally a blessing to me. It’s not very bold but more subtle- I mostly taste the chocolate with slight undertones of coconut and a very faint hint of rose. It is pretty light, even for my taste (I tend to like light flavors), but I think I’m going to try adding some of my coconut tea in to see if I can boost that flavor. I may even try to blend it with some strawberry and see what happens. I see great potential in this teas mixing ability, but it’s decent on its own too.

I love this tea, which surprised me. I picked it up on Black Friday, because I stepped into Teavana to avoid whatever was going on in the mall. Teavana was super busy as well, but it was a little less busy and at least it was kind of dark and dreamy and smelled lovely. Anyway, this tea is on 50% clearance, and I have thought about buying it before, so I bought a full 8 ounces of it, which was really smart of me because the full price is a bit steep for my budget. I have drank so many cups over the past few days. So many. I think I had four or five cups of it today only (I stopped counting after five. Because well—dignity.)

I love this tea. I wish I had bought it months ago. I love oolong teas and I love chocolate teas. The local coffee shop near my parents house when I was in high school served this amazing chocolate and vanilla rooibos blend that enchanted me. Rooibos has fallen out of favor with me, and I rarely drink it any more. Anyway, I haven’t really had this rooibos in a long time. However, this tea hits all the notes that rooibos blend did. Teavana’s blend tastes like cake and chocolate. What I mean is that the chocolate flavor has a creamy aftertaste that reminds me of a cake taste. I think the coconut is the reason for this aftertaste, but I love it.

The reason I didn’t buy it sooner is that I was worried about the maté in the blend. I figured that would mess up the caffeine content and also obscure the oolong flavor. It does not obscure the flavor of the oolong, which I will discuss in the next paragraph, and instead, the maté adds a roasted aftertaste which really works. I was surprised.

The oolong itself is pleasant. Unlike some other oolong blends from Teavana, I can taste the oolong. It’s a light oolong, but doesn’t seem to brew like a greener oolong per se, as it has a maltier flavors I associate with a browner oolong.

I’ll be sad to see this go. I purchased 8 ounces of it, and I hope that lasts me awhile. I’ve been drinking so much of this tea though… Hopefully someone on Steepster also likes chocolate oolong, and I can find a blend to replace this with when I’m finished.

I get two great brews from this tea, and I think the third brew is quite decent. I feel like I should include that.

This is one of my first reviews on Steepster. I’m sure everyone can tell.

I like that this tea is chocolatey and has a creamy, nutty taste. I don’t really taste too much oolong when I drink it. My boyfriend is obsessed with this tea and I always have some on hand to aid in my mission to convert him from coffee to tea.

It’s 88 degrees right now so this iced with Azteca Fire is making this summer-like day more bearable. On my second steeping of this and although it’s not as chocolatey & slighty coconutey as the first, I still love it and may attempt a third.

EDIT: It does hold up for a third steeping. I FREAKING LOVE THIS TEA!!

A chocolatey oolong tea.

This is one of teavana’s better teas! The oolong is rich and strong enough to stand up to the cocoa and carob flavors. So the resulting brew is rich, with a chocolate flavor.

It doesn’t taste like chocolate or hot cocoa, it is more like cocoa nibs.

My only real issue with this tea is it does not fair well through multiple re-steeps. The first is great, the second also great, the third has barely any flavor. You also have to use a very large scoop of tea to get a decent flavor from it.

Flavors: Cocoa

There’s not much to say about this tea. I didn’t think I could go wrong buying this blend – it’s chocolate, it’s oolong, and it’s “low fat” (insofar that the term can be applied to tea).

However, I wasn’t very impressed. It wasn’t good; it wasn’t bad. I just didn’t taste much of the chocolate or the oolong. Honestly, most of the time I ended up mixing this tea with other blends that had strong flavours I disliked.
