Yorkshire Gold Tea

A few years back, the water around where they grow the leaves for Assam tea was infested with cholera. Some of the growers were being responsible, and some were being awful, not proving any other water for the tea harvesters to drink. I could not be a part of this, so I wrote all the growers to find out their practices. Taylors was on top of the situation, taking good care of their work force, and not only that, the woman I was in communication with was so kind and pleasant that ever since, just for that reason alone, I have used this tea as my work morning rush-out-the-door tea.

I also happen to love it, and I didn’t realize until I read the comments how much caffeine it has. But as a night owl, that is a plus :)

Bitter tea.. Smells good though.

This is my go-to tea for every day! When I’m not feeling like something herbal, but nothing too strong like Irish Breakfast, I’ll reach for this. I like that it’s authentically British, and tastes better quality than, for example, something like Red Rose (which is still reliable, but meh). I add lots of milk and one tablespoon of sugar, and I’m left with a warm, cozy cuppa that reminds me of mornings spent at my grandmother’s house. I usually go for the Orange Pekoe variety. Love this brand!

This is not a full leaf tea so it’d be unfair to review it as such. With that said, I find this “dust” tea to be of a great quality, it mixes well with Twining’s lady grey (75% to 25% ratio, less of LG) and goes well with milk (don’t have sugar in my tea, so can’t comment on that). It has a great flavor profile on it’s own as well. I find it to be an exceptional morning and even afternoon brew. Out of more common teas, this is surely a stand out one.

I was disappointed to see that this tea was CTC in the bag, as I have heard it touted so much, I was expecting full conventional leaf, and I have had some stomach issues with CTC in the past.

Other thank that, it is a pretty good tea, if not a little bitter, but I do like bitter flavors, so this did not bother me too much.

For me, not an everyday tea, but a once-in-a-while type of thing.

Not bad – I like the regular Yorkshire Tea in the bags more than this. I haven’t had this in some time, recall it was a little milder than the red label Yorkshire blend.

Very strong and robust indeed. Too much so, I believe, to drink without milk or cream, and sweetener (as I now prefer to do). On its own, it can be harsh.

Staple everyday – good strong tea.

Punches you awake but gets bitter fast. Steep carefully. Not a fancy tea, but way better than Tetley. I don’t drink this one often as I prefer my tea without milk or sugar, and this one can get ropey without such company.

This is the finest tea known to man. It’s got a bit of a kick and it’s not for those who look for subtlety. This is a wake me the hell up cuppa.
