From Stash Tea

Stash Organic Vanilla Honeybush is an herbal infusion that is low in tannins and contains no caffeine. This unique drink is tasty and aromatic. It brews up a warm reddish-brown color and is full bodied and slightly spicy with a sweet aftertaste. It’s a great drink hot or iced, with or without milk and sweetener.

Stash Co. kindly sent me samples of a few teas. This one is ok, but not great. It’s very straightforward. Tastes exactly like its name – no more, no less. So it’s a honeybush tea with a hint of vanilla. Nothing about the flavor profile is especially notable. I think this could benefit from a bit more vanilla, to add depth and compensate for the decent but unremarkable base. I would drink this if it were around and I wanted something caffeine-free and a little sweet, but I won’t be buying it.

Hmmm. I’m not getting vanilla, in either the aroma or the taste. Just honeybush. And I’m not that big a fan of honeybush. I just wanted to try this one on the off chance that vanilla flavoring would make it tolerable for me. It might have, if I’d been able to taste it. :/

Grabbed a bag from a tea box. This isn’t one of the tastier vanilla honeybush blends I’ve tried. As usual, you get a bit of pepper. The honeybush isn’t weak at all, which was nice, but it also wasn’t the best flavor. I didn’t taste any vanilla. All the reviews seem to agree about this one.

This reminds me of Rooibos tea which tells me right there that I’m not going to love it as I’m not a huge fan of Rooibos based teas and it looks like Honeybush is going to be in the same boat, in my books. Tastes like wood mixed with hay. I can’t detect the vanilla at all which is disappointing. Still, since I really started going outside of my comfort zone and trying different teas, I have learned to appreciate them all for what they are, therefore making none of them totally undrinkable. I wouldn’t purchase this one again but I will finish the box.

This was my first time trying a honeybush tea. I bought this because the name ‘honeybush’ sounds sweet and interesting. I never add sugar to my tea but I do enjoy a natural background sweetness in a tea and this tea delivers that.

The ingredient list of this tea is short. “Organic honeybush and organic vanilla extract”. I found the vanilla flavor to be very mild, in fact I am not sure if I would have recognized the vanilla flavor at all if I didn’t first read it on the box.

I see other people comparing the taste to hay. A hay flavored tea doesn’t sound appealing to me but when I drink it I see why people compare the taste to hay but I enjoyed it anyways.

In summary, I enjoyed this tea. It has a natural background sweetness, no bitter aftertaste and that’s what I like.

This is an interesting honeybush. It tastes like wood with a hint of hay. It’s a little different than what I’ve been getting from Adagio, and I’m trying to decide if I like it or not. I think it’ll take another cup to make up my mind. However, I didn’t taste the vanilla at all and it definitely loses points for that. If you’re marketing it as a flavored tea, I should be able to taste that flavor.

I think I’ve come to the realization that I’m not a big fan of Honeybush. It has a very astringent quality to me and I couldn’t taste any notes of Vanilla in this tea. To finish the box, I’ve been mixing it with a Rooibus chai tea to get rid of the remaining tea bags.
