So I picked up this instant bubble tea powder recently during a grocery store haul in Chinatown. I actually got a bunch of different instant bubble tea kids to try out, but this is just the first one I’ve actually made so far…

I have to say, it is INTENSELY sweet and the quality of the tapioca pearls isn’t the best. They’re pretty gummy and also a little mushy around the edges. However, you simply cannot beat the convenience. You literally take the preportioned packet of boba and stick it in a microwave for thirty seconds and it’s done! Then you dissolve the flavour packet in a bit of hot water and top with ice and more water to preferred strength. The whole thing takes like two minutes tops – so if you’re comparing quality to cost ratio it’s pretttttyyyyyy damn good.

As for the mango taste itself, it’s a mix of a bit of a more green mango flavour with a super bright and juicy mango that almost feels just a touch tangy. Artificial candy mango. This is not a product for people who expect natural flavours or colours. I did think the texture was a bit thin, though the taste fine, so I added some coconut milk to my drink as well. I thought that improved both taste and texture – so if I make this again I will likely mirror that prep method.
