This delightfully fruity black tea is made with native and cultivated BC berries, Nootka rosehips, and India, China & Ceylon teas and is an exclusive tea created especially for the Royal BC Museum.

Black raspberry, thimbleberry, cranberry, blueberry, salmon berry & salal berry create a berry yummy tea!

Enjoy sipping this irresistible tea on its own, with milk, or with a dash of local honey and lemon wedges. It can also be served iced with local honey and a splash of cranberry juice.

Proceeds benefit the Royal BC Museum Foundation. This tea can be purchased at SILK ROAD as well as at the Royal BC Museum Gift Shop.

I made quite a large silk road order recently and this is the first tea from that order that I tried. I was excited about the berries in this blend as Silk Road doesn’t have any other berry blends.

I found that this tasted a lot like David’s superberry but without the chalkiness. I couldn’t really pick out any particular berries, it kind of tasted like berry flavoured chewable vitamins. Not a bad tasting tea, but I was definitely disappointed. Maybe there is just too many berry flavours in here, it probably would have been better with just two or three flavours. I will definitely give this another chance, but so far, this is headed for the travelling tea box.

Homemade advent day 14

I tried to brew this strong (15+ minutes steeping in hot water, then splash of soy milk) but it tastes lackluster. A 65/100 at best. The black base is fine but nothing remarkable. The berries are more of a generic fruitiness today instead of specific berries. I love the idea of this blend, but this cup just isn’t great. I’m not changing my rating just yet because it is possible my microwave didn’t heat up the water as much as it should have (it acts weirdly sometimes)

Got a late start to my tea drinking today, but at least I kicked it off with this really pleasant cup of black tea! I think this is the last tea I needed to try from my Silk Road order aside from the straight Dragonwell I got – but I’m not opening the package of that one for a while, likely…

I’ll be honest, I don’t have a TON of familiarity with many of the berries in this blend such as the Salal berry, for example. I am really enjoying it though and I think it’s a very nice, full bodied mixed berry flavour overall. I taste blueberry/raspberry more than anything else but perhaps that’s because those are just the two berries in here that I have the most familiarity with? There’s also cranberry, apparently too – I’m not tasting that so much though.

Good sweetness; like jammy berries or even berry juices from overly ripe berries. This would make a lovely “tea syrup” – either for cocktails, or even just straight up syrup for waffles and such. I get some malt from the base, and floral notes – I like that it’s holding up very well to the many fruit notes. It’s not quite as good as the Black Currant black tea carried by Silk Road in my opinion, but I think I am enjoying it more than Berry Victoria which is another black berry tea from Silk Road.

Woah, I didn’t know they had a blend using Salal berries. They are a traditional food of the Aboriginals in the area and my family used to pick them when we made bumbleberry crisp (bumbleberry = various berries you find in the forest – wild raspberries, blackberries, salal, oregon grape, strawberries, salmon berries, thimble berries).

I hate berry Victoria because it always has a tart berry + very bitter black base combo when I’ve tried it brewed in store. I’m thinking maybe the Museum blend might be more my style, even just for the salal berry ingredient. I’ve always found salal berries give a weird oregon grape and soapy blackberry flavour but I kind of like it Salmon berries are bright, similar to red current and raspberry. Thimble berries are a lot of raspberry but way better IMO because they have a hint of stonefruit (peach?) in there.

This definitely tastes like a Silk Road tea, which isn’t all bad. I really like the berry flavours in this, but feel that perhaps the quantity of rosehips is a little much.

I’m drinking this with milk. I can totally taste the thimbleberries (YES! My favourite!) which is super cool.

I’m glad I just got a sample of this one. A larger amount would have been overkill.

(I’m totally not steeping this the way they recommend. IDK, somehow I think the flavours are more rounded at a lower temp with more tea.)

I’ve never had thimbleberries before! They look scrumptious. Are they similar to raspberries?

I’ve been meaning to pick this one up since I recall the dry leaf smelling fantastic.

Great Canadian TTB

I have no idea what BC berries are and neither does my friend from BC but I do know is that this is a really pleasant cup. Not something I am running out to stock but I would drink another cup if offered. Thank you AshleyElizabeth for the chance to try it.

Ha! BC berries, that’s what it says on the bag? I had to go look… so it’s berries cultivated in BC, which includes black raspberry, thimbleberry, cranberry, blueberry, salal berry and salmon berry. With the Nootka rosehips, I’d say this is a well-named tea! Holy moly.

…..well so much for getting to florida today. Up side? I can drink all the teas in the travelling teabox today so that when i get back, it will be a quick thing to pack it up and get it out to variatea. sooo incoming flux of a million small cups of tea and tasting notes!

I rather like this one. It’s a decent base with just a bit of berry poking through. Not something i would have picked up on my own, though i suppose i did consider it when i was in Victoria. :) Happy to get to try it and i’m enjoying the little cup i made :) I’m doing my best not to finish anything in the box unless there’s something with only 1 cup left heh

Also, did you know there is a store in Downtown Disney called Tea and Spice exchange (or something like that). Not to be a problem starter or anything, even though I totally am. My mom tried to stop me from going in, but I almost ripped her arm off when I just turned and bee-lined for it without even saying where I was going. Definitely set my credit card on fire there.
