From Silk Road Teas

A visual and taste delight! A fresh, early-picked mix of light and dark green leaves and silvery buds. An EU Standard organic white tea from the Fuding Mountains of Fujian Province, young leaves are withered then fired to preserve their light-green colors and natural sweetness. When brewed the cup is amber–colored, offering a smooth, sweet flavor with hints of melon and fruit.

I’ve had this one for a while now and practically forgot to log it. This is a ‘casual’ tea for me. I love white tea and it’s subtlety, I feel it keeps me ‘awake’ in the sense that I have to pay attention to the tea to taste it better.

This is a good quality tea and the fresher the better. Subtle sweetness that resembles honeydew melon with some hay (in a good way) freshness in the background. Not the best but still pretty good.

Sipdown no. 68 of 2018 (no. 424 total).

Tried the last of this this morning at a lower temperature (185F) and a shorter steep time (4 minutes).

Prepared this way, it’s a completely different tea. Virtually colorless liquor, very little aroma, and I can’t taste much other than hot water and the chocolate muffin I had for breakfast.

I don’t know why this comes as a surprise to me (but it does). It’s typical of my experience with white teas. Unless I steep them like herbals, I get a big fat nada.

Beautiful menagerie of different green colors in the leaves. I love White Peony, it is one of my cupboard staples that I drink lots of mornings.
This one is very good.
Liquor is golden and smells like sweet honey.
The flavor is very subtly sweet and has notes of shortbread or oat bread.

Enjoying good old reliable White Peony bc I just got back from vacay and I have a bit of a cold so I know this will make me feel better and easy to brew makes it simple.

I did a side-by-side comparison of White Peony and Silver Needle today and found that I have not been noting the flavor in both that is Almond! Silver Needle is definitely the best, of course, with the added Cream note that White Peony doesn’t have as much of and White Peony has a more golden liquor compared to Silver Needle which has an all creamy pearl color. I love them both and White Peony is a good travel tea to me, one that is always reliable in brewing, flavor, and not as expensive to bring on a trip.
