2010 Mini Ripe Tuocha Rice Scented

I added four of these mini touchas to a recent order just to see what the fuss was about. I really tried to like this tea but the rice scent wound up turning me off. It sounded good on paper, especially since other people seem to like it, but it actually made my stomach a little queasy … I’m not sure why I had this reaction. Oh well, at least it was an inexpensive lesson.

This is the second pu erh mini tuo cha from a swap. Thank you CharlotteZero! I am quickly falling in love with Pu erhs. I love how the dark liquid appears after a short infusion time, I like how the leaves open up. Anyways this tea is so good, mildly smoky, faint smell of rice cakes, not bitter at all. I did 4 infusions with this and I could have got more, but it was time to CHHAAANGE PLACES! (I assume a place such as this gets its fair share of Alice in Wonderland jokes).

I just love this mini tuo cha. The smell is incredible. Never bitter. I did 15 sec steeps. Will pick up more with my future order

Ok, so my late night puerh drinking experiment took a sour turn.
I found myself staring at the clock, feeling like electricity was flying through my limbs, at 3:30am (I headed up to bed around 1am)… haha!
BUT… This puerh was SO good! I kind of don’t regret drinking it last night…
I wonder if you can build up a resistance to caffeine, because I would like to do that if it meant I could keep drinking teas like this at night and not just during the day.
The sweet rice scent, the warm smoothness…. aw, it’s just awesome. :D

I ordered a few of these with my order a while back. I love rice pu-erh. Speaking of things found in pu-erh….Should I mention the five inch long hair inside the paper wrapper around the pu-erh? Erm. Ah well, boiling water anyway. This tuocha is actually small unless I’m accustomed to using way too much pu-erh. The flavor is very deep and the cup is very dark (enough leaf anyway!), but there were only really hints of the rice flavor. I’ve tried a really nice one before that had a ton of sweet rice that was almost like kettle corn in every steep. Not a bad tea, but I couldn’t really get that hair out of my mind of course.

This one is REALLY GOOD! Super smooth, and smells just like basmati rice, which I love. Then I got to read about how both are scented with pandan leaves and geek out about it. Fun tea all around! :D
