From Old Ways Tea

Jin Mu Dan was created by the Tea Research Institute of the Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The name means Golden Peony. Jin Mu Dan is known to produce a thick soup and osmanthus flower fragrance.

My uncle who produced this tea described it as “quite a bit better than last year”; after one session I agree. The classic roast smoothly fills out the thickness this tea offers. The fragrance is clear and pleasant from the start, gently floral, sweet, and quite creamy. The soup is very clear. The gaiwan lid fragrance remained clear and strong throughout the session.

Note as of 11/9/2020: This tea has been charcoal roast twice. If you are re-stocking, the roast will be a bit deeper now than your previous order. I have not yet updated the photos.

This is one of the samples Ros so generously sent me home with when we met up in Montreal recently. Thank you my friend, I very much appreciate them! In particular, I am really happy I can try some tea from Old Ways Tea, a company I’ve been meaning to try for a while.

This tea is really lovely, I had it with my family in the morning today. The roast is not too strong and well-balanced. The roasting also seems a little uneven. Some of the leaves have a significant greenish hue to them.

Specifically, I love its cooling mineral aftertaste with its neverending sweetness.
