Pulled from TTB 2022, shared by Dustin.

This one might be my favorite from the box so far. It’s like a very refined version of some caramel black teas I’ve tried in the past. I’m not sure what makes it feel so fancy, but I like it. Definitely keeping what’s left of this one.

Yum! Even old this tea has a strong scent and flavour. I found the base tea quite astringent, though, so added milk and sugar. Waaaay too much sugar, but it’s still tasty. This is a perfect dessert tea, something to have when you’re craving that buttery caramel sweetness but don’t want or can’t have an actual dessert for one reason or another. The vanilla is actually more strongly present than I expected; I thought it would be overwhelmed by the caramel, but it’s not. Not as good as Butiki’s Caramel Vanilla Assam, but almost. Definitely something which could replace it, when I eventually run out of the last 2oz I’ve been hoarding. If I ever find out how to order from Nina’s (I might just end up going to Paris) this will probably be a part of my order.

Thank you so much VariaTEA for sharing!

I’d forgotten about Nina’s… Guess that’s another company to add to the future orders list!

Kawaii433

Cameron B., Oh no, don’t say that. lololol :P

I feel like I lost my mind this month… All of you, with your love for tea, it’s downright contagious…

Nattie

Haha, that’s how they get ya! :P But seriously, almost everything I’ve tried from Nina’s has been rave-worthy. Definitely worth an order.

Kittenna

Ooh, Caramel Vanilla Assam. That might be one of the few I actually don’t have left from Butiki!

Cameron B.

I just ordered a couple of Nina’s teas – luckily they’re available on Amazon here in the States. It’s entirely your fault! ;)

Nattie

@Cameron – now I’m checking Amazon to see if the UK site stocks them… If I end up buying more tea you are equally to blame! XD

Nattie

Also what did you get?? Maybe I can live vicariously through you, lol.

Cameron B.

I ended up choosing one black, one green, and one rooibos – Je t’Aime, Magicienne, and Taurus.

Nattie

I’ve never had Taurus, but I loved both this tea and Magicienne! I have definite tea envy!

I got this tin at a Home Goods store, and it was the only one on the shelf. Thanks to the wonderful people who post on Steepster, I knew that Nina’s Paris teas were generally highly regarded. I saw the description of caramel and vanilla flavors, and snagged it immediately. Definitely my kind of flavored black!

Just brewed a pot of it this morning, and I was NOT disappointed. Creamy-caramel-vanilla-cookie happiness. This could have been enhanced by the evaporated milk I added to it and maybe the tea wouldn’t be as lusciously creamy without it, but – who am I kidding – I’ll always add milk to it.

I’ve been on a bit of an unflavored tea kick for awhile, but had a craving for something sweet and comforting. Surprisingly and delightfully, this completely fit the bill. I’m really satisfied and happy with it. Great as a dessert tea, and for me, great with breakfast. Delicious.

Oh, yeah, and as it cools a little, noticing toasted marshmallows. So great.

Second one from Nina’s that I like. I picked this up from Home Goods, and think it lucky to have run across these. I never go for vanilla flavored teas before—-I usually prefer fruity or earthy. This was a good tea however. It does have a slightly acrid/chemical smell, but not so bad—maybe just strong crème brulee. The brewed tea smelled nicely, and much more tame. I tasted first before adding my usual bit of honey. It is a lovely black tea, no bitter, and good crème brulee notes for me. May not be a favorite, but won’t mind finishing my tin.

Not as sweet as I expected but still a nice cup of tea. The caramel and vanilla flavors were the first I notice. The dark chocolate blended into the smooth creamy flavor of the brew. This is the first time I’ve tried Nina’s. The product descriptions and reviews on this site had me intrigued and I finally decided to take the plunge and get a 1.7 oz bag of this another another blend.

I am glad I did and maybe I would have rated this higher if I hadn’t tried Harney’s Florence last night OMG that was an amazing dessert tea! Hard to top for sure.

But Je T aime in is a good tea and it’s probably an unfair comparison.

I tired it with and without creme and dab of Splenda. The flavors come through either way. It is a smooth, full bodied tea that I am anxious to try again.

Thank you to JustJames for sending me this sample! There’s something about the vanilla in this tea that’s off-putting. I can’t put my finger on why. It could be the age. I’ve had this sample sitting in my cupboard for a while. It somehow got shoved to the back and accidentally overlooked. I’m not really a fan of this one. There’s just something about it that doesn’t agree with me. It’s always fun to try new things though even if they don’t turn out to be new favorites.

So I got a new bag of this in the mail today, but in contrast to the last batch I had of this, which was rich and strong and delicious, this batch just tastes old. The flavoring seems to have completely faded away; even the base tea tastes weak and worn out. Considering what a knock out the base is normally, I’m pretty disappointed :(

From MissB, probably a really long time ago. Thank you!

It’s not bad. There were lots of crumbs in the bag, which is why I hadn’t made it before. As it sat and I drank it, it went quite bitter because of the tiny pieces.

When fresh, the flavour was nice. It was… EG-ish I think maybe? IDK. I have a headache and I’m cooking dinner and also cleaning my apartment. So I wasn’t paying a lot of attention. I drank it up quite fast though, and would be happy to try it again if I had the opportunity.

The dry leaves are all about vanilla and caramel. Sweet and strong. My body was lifted up and lured towards the scent like a cartoon character. The fragrance had me stepping into in a confectioner’s shop. After steeping, the brew’s aroma shouts vanilla and caramel along with a buttery sweetness. After brewing this tea, my little office smelled like a french patisserie fully of buttery sweetness. The tea itself surprised me, as the flavor is actually subtle. Coconut, vanilla, butter, caramel and malty black tea all play nicely together. I could also detect notes of raw almonds. The caramel flavor is smooth and pleasant, not at all like the demanding scent of the brewed tea.
