Nothing too fancy here, folks. Just black current on a smooth base.

Sipdown! (I’m down nearly 20 samples this month!)

Speaking of samples, a friend tested me about one I gave her that was a. (she thinks) green tea with white chocolate. :O I went through all my notes and I have no idea. (You know you drink too much tea when…)

Had this yesterday for breakfast. Very nice flavor, smooth, and not astringent. There wasn’t anything mind blowing about this, but it’s a good tea!

This is nice and simple, there’s not a whole lot of depth to it. But sometimes that’s just perfect. I found the black currant to be very nicely balaced with the tea, and over all an easy going cup.

2024 sipdown no. 48

My colleague shared a few teabags with me of this (and Apricot). I steeped two teabags for my 15oz mug and it’s underwhelming. There’s a bitterness with some blackcurrant in the background, but more like dried blackcurrant that’s been sat in the back of the cupboard for too long. As far as a bagged blackcurrant, H&S has this one beat.

I cold steeped a single teabag in a smaller mug and it tastes very similar, though with less bitterness. This variation is overall a nicer cup and more refreshing.

This is a very bold black tea, especially for the decaf version I’m drinking right now. Lots of fruity and sweet black current and tannic black tea.

The currant flavor is light, and not over-powering, and it goes down very smooth. It’s actually identical in flavor to an icewine tea I picked up in Chinatown (I drank them one after the other just to test that theory). Thumbs up!

Backlog from yesterday…this was in bag form, from the SSTTB, which is why I used it…I was kind of lazy yesterday morning before work. Anyway, it is not a stellar tea, just basic, and that’s ok for me sometimes. It was good, just not amazing. I think I like Tetley’s black currant just a wee bit more, to be honest.

Not bad. Not great, but not bad.

I preferred the Black Currant that Steam had at one point. Much more curranty. This one is a bit lacking in currant flavour, although the tea portion is pretty decent, especially for a tea in a bag!

Brewed this up earlier today, and it smelled identical to a black currant. Amazing! Just had a sip though, hours after making it, and there’s a bizarre white coating on the sides, with what looks like oil drops suspended in the mix. It looks… sickly, so I’m dumping it, although the one gulp I did have was delicious – this would be fantastic iced. JustJames, I really hope I remembered to send you some of this.

Thank you OMGsrsly for sharing this with me!

That is so weird! Of course, I haven’t tried the bagged ones. I never noticed this when I got it loose (ages and ages ago).
