I’ve heard of this before but I’m unsure how effective it is. shrugs I know some people also store coffee in the fridge, but after taste testings that I read most people can’t tell a significant difference between the fridge stored coffee and the ones just kept at room temp.
yeah I don’t know either but I got a lot of Japanese green tea for Christmas and I don’t seem to be drinking it fast enough, maybe this will help prolong its shelf life. I guess it can’t hurt anyway.
I remember a thread about this at one point. Part of the controversy about storing the tea in the fridge (or freezer) was that when you inevitably take it out for any length of time, condensation might occur which would be bad for the tea. I think that for most it doesn’t matter if it is in a cupboard or fridge.
My Japanese neighbor keeps her tea in the refrigerator. She gets her tea from a sister who still lives in Japan and sends it to her.
I froze my TGY from Verdant ….
I don’t think you’re supposed to freeze teas!?!
The Japanese guy in my office froze his green tea…. i’ve never tried it though
Oh….I remember reading somewhere…here it is:

I’m just trying to help here, but if you want to try it, of course that’s up to you. :))

my freezer is way too small to keep any tea in there. thanks though!
So Amy….what did you think of the articles? Personally I’d probably screw my teas up if I put them in the freezer, but I like the articles because they give you different info, or come at the issue from a different angle.
The articles were interesting – I’m just keeping the Japanese green teas in the refrigerator, the rest are staying in the cupboard. I’ll let you know if that ruins them or anything. :)
